Save the Children! - Feral Children
General Summary
The Alliance for Displaced Children has been working tirelessly since the events of the hurricane and the mad wizard to rescue lost children. Plays-With-Squirrels desired to find some of these children (perhaps for his own reasons) and gathered a party to go and rescue a couple of brats.
The party met up in Slumber and gathered what information they could from the ADC representative, Marrajo communed with his god for confirmation, and the group set out into the Black Forest in search of any evidence they could find of two small children.
They happened upon a hollowed-out tree trunk with what appeared to be remnants of food and other supplies that they suspected were from their missing kids. This time, it was Plays-With-Squirrels' turn to commune, but not with his god, with the birds. Who spoke back to him and warned him that a threat was near. Three dweomercats emerged from the trees, intent that the prey they were hunting would not be stolen from them. After some well-timed aim from Javida's hammer, the cats were dealt with, and the party was able to locate footprints to track. Child-sized footprints
Following the tracks led them to a dilapidated tree house inhabited by two small children that were well deserving of a bath. Frightened, the girls chucked rocks and flaming wooden sticks at the party. Not having the patience to speak to and attempt to reason with the children, Plays-With-Squirrels baleful polymorphed one into a turtle. This sent the party into a heated disagreement. Javida especially became angry when she realized that Plays-With-Squirrels had no intention of ever turning the child back and directed her hammer at him. Marrajo assisted Javida (he was not to be stripped of his payment from the ADC for failing to return the children) and Marco set one of his dogs to help as well. While combat ensued amongst the party members, the second child, turtle-sister in hand, began to escape by crawling out the back of the tree house across the branches. Marco and his other dog noticed her and began to talk to her, reassuring her that they were there to take her to safety.
Plays-With-Squirrels was no match for Javida whose hammer turned his skull into Stonebone stew. His body was looted and Marrajo harvested his liver for later. Meanwhile, Marco convinced the youngest of the two children to come back with them to Slumber and the ADC. The turtle-sister was turned back into her human self via a dispel magic spell (paid for out of Plays-With-Squirrels gold) and both children were bathed, clothed, fed, and treated for injuries and disease by the members of the ADC who stated that the "children would be brought home after a good night's rest."
Feeling proud to have rescued children from the dangers of the Black Forest and heading no guilt for the death of their party member, the party dispersed, loot in hand.
