Mercantile Board of Errezo
The city of Errezo is dominated by the Mercantile Board, which operates as both bank and business regulator - and, increasingly, manages all aspects of citizen's lives. Their headquarters is built into a large amethyst geode that underlies the city. The board members have grown unimaginably wealthy off of this, and now seek to spread their influence further afield and dominate the entire Isthmus and beyond.

Military
- Golden Champions: the generals and special operatives of the Board, raised from childhood in opulent golden surroundings, being rigorously trained and honed in body and mind to be loyal and powerful agents of Errezo. Their gold infusion, as well as being a sign of status, imbues them with immunity to many other infusions. There are less than a hundred of these precious individuals in all.
- Debtor Army: for decades, the Board has been offering contracted loans to any aspiring businessperson to pass through their city, with the contractual punishment being enslavement to the board. In addition, the board has been buying and capturing traded slaves at a fantastic rate. As well as providing cheap labour, these benighted individuals form the core of the Errezite army, between ten and twenty thousand soldiers whose loyalty is magically assured.
- Mercenaries: the board is spending a fortune on mercenaries to supplement their slave-army.
Technological Level
Though Errezo is frequently innovating in a wide variety of fields, the Board itself have been instrumental in developing a few in particular, which have helped achieve their ascendancy in recent decades:
- Finance, banking and investment: Errezo's financial concepts are more "advanced" than their neighbours, with concepts like stocks and futures allowing economic stability, investment in promising ideas, but most of all, accrual of wealth to The Board.
- Contract magic: By aggressively acquiring rogue Bondcasters, the Mercantile board has circumvented many of the weaknesses of using contract magic to provide slave labour.
Religion
Though the state does not actually deify Caracar, they nonetheless hold to some of the ceremonies and festivals of the Legacy Caracar cults. Other religions are tolerated, and many temples exist within Errezo.
