Oboth
A smallish principality on the southern border between The Srem and Caracar, infused with chrome that renders the entire area sterile. No infection survives there, and no sexual reproduction can take place. Cutting-seeded plants can survive, but there is no permanent animal life in the interior. The mirror-skinned Obothic live on the border when they desire to sire children, but have settlements throughout the land.
Structure
A hereditary but relatively powerless Prince oversees a council of senior landowners, who each, essentially, have dominion within their own estates. there are very few laws in this land, and wealth and power essentially determine everything.
Assets

- a Jintvaran amber-adept to can preserve those on the verge of death until medical solutions are found.
Demography and Population
The majority of the population are Obothic, with the native infusion of chrome that gives them their distinctive appearance. though many of the clientele are non-natives, they typically make up less than 5% of the total population at any given time, and come from an extremely broad variety of locations across the continent and beyond.
the vast majority of Obothic are serfs with very few rights, tied to the landowners except when they're traded around. There are also slaves, particularly in the various specialty tasks provided to the luxury guests.
Fully chrome-infused Obothic rarely travel far from the homeland, as they have a weakened immune system.
Foreign Relations
The principality has been held by many masters over the centuries, but always manages to maintain a position of privilege, semi-independence, and wealth. this was true in the ancient era of Mattiha river valley and the Saccharine empire, in the era of The Caracaran Supplicancy, and into the modern era. Indeed, it is in eras of independence and international fractiousness that Oboth is at its least powerful, influential and secure - relying as it does on the super-wealthy and powerful sophists that only great empires can sustain.
Agriculture & Industry
only asexual reproduction - cuttings and the like - work within Oboth. as such, the agriculture of the interior consists mostly of tubers, as well as seedless fruits such as bananas. in the inhabited rim, animals are also raised. this food is virtually all for domestic supply, although a little is traded north with tribes in The Srem.
Oboth has 2 main industries:
- luxury resorts for pleasure and medicine. each landowner has at least one well-appointed villa for everyone from the ultra-wealthy to merely the prosperous to come and enjoy the finest things that can be offered. Originally these retreats were designed to utilise the preventative and restorative effects of the region's chrome infusion, allied with medical expertise that soon grew to be the greatest in the world, in order to heal and recuperate the ailing, injured, and elderly. the demands for entertainment and luxury among the wealthier attendees, however, soon spun off into a second, possibly more important industry of opulence. from intellectual pursuits, shows, and games to fine dining, recreational drugs, and every debauchery imaginable, any appetite, no matter how depraved, will be accommodated by the Obothic resorts.
- producing Obothic Pebbles that act as the only genuinely effective contraceptive known, and are traded widely across the world.
Infrastructure
The aesthetic of Obothic architecture is extremely clean and sterile. white ceramic and polished or brushed chrome make up the majority of public buildings. the private residences of the poor, the workers, and the food-providers tend to be mud-huts, and are required to be inconspicuous and away from the tourist areas wherever possible.
