Ella O'Dooley was a young but prominent member of the community in Gévaudan. Especially beloved by those who lived in the Malzieu & Chastel districts of the city. She died saving a group of children from one of the Beasts, acting as a distraction just long enough for members of the local adventurer's guild to scare off the beast but not kill it. This death dealt a massive blow to the morale and state of mid many people within the community who were already struggling under the oppression of the Marquis and his private militia.

Starting on the Night of the Badger's Feast and ending on the morning of Mesembria 9th three days later, the lower class citizens of Gévaudan rose up against the local Marquis and his private militia that served as the local law enforcement. This uprising was allegedly aided by a foreign crime family who had recently expanded their operations into Gévaudan, which may have been the deciding factor in the success of this revolution when compared to other civil movements that have taken place over the past few centuries.

After the Pepperdrake Brigade were defeated during the uprising, both their barracks and precinct were razed to the ground and all members of the brigade were exiled from the city and warned never to return. Because of this failure, the brigade was disbanded by the border nobles who originally financed and employed them.
