Seldrir XII Cungramud

King Seldrir XII Cungramud

King Seldrir XII of Tojsil reformed Tojsil society in several ways, or rather he got the credit for things that happened during his reign, that other people worked hard for.

While the country was a monarchy, the different counties, municipalities, cities and towns were run democratically. Many women worked hard, for over a decade, some of them going to prison or got sent to mental hospital, because of their efforts to give women the right to vote. But just because Seldrir XII put down his foot and made it an executive order that women should have the right to vote, he got all the credit. Though some say that it was the queen, Serme who made him sign the executive order, threatening to withhold sex if he didn’t.

Seldrir XII was rumored to have several male lovers on the side, during his reign, and he married two of them, beside the Queen. Some religious groups were upset about this, but most people were okay with it. Polygamy was legal in the Kingdom of Tojsil so anyone could marry more than one person, and it was gender neutral marriage. It was usually just royalty and nobility who took advantage of this and married more than one person. The additional husbands could also marry each other and the Queen, if there was mutual consent. Only rule was that her first child would have to be with the King, to ensure the firstborn was heir to the throne. The result was a very complicated Royal family tree.

When Thieian archeologists found the first wreck of an Ark Ship on Sew Bli, the Emperor of Nagri contacted Seldrir XII and demanded that Tojsil should ally themselves with Nagri and invade Sew Bli. Seldrir refused and instead made a holographic broadcast in which he congratulated the archeologists and Thieis in general. He went on to say that he would like to make an official state visit, and see the site for himself. At that moment he was hit in the chest by two bullets, the Queen was hit in the chest by one bullet, just like the one of Seldrir's husbands who was present and also that husband’s twelve year old son, half brother of the crown prince. All four died, while the crown prince survived. The Crown Prince's left arm was grazed by a bullet, but his life was saved by a bodyguard putting himself into the line of fire and taking the bullet that would otherwise have killed the prince. The bodyguard died.

A group of religious fanatics claimed responsibility for the assassination, saying it was because of the King being married to two men, in addition to the Queen. Nobody took the claim of the religious fanatics seriously. The real assassin was found dead a few days after the attack. He was a mercenary, with no ties to the fanatics. Only several years later, at the end of the Great War, they discovered who hired the mercenary. Seldrir XII's second husband didn’t make it in time to the event, claiming he was "stuck in traffic." He was behind the assassination of the rest of the Royal family, and hired the mercenary, and an associate of him killed the mercenary. With the rest of the Royal family out of the way he would have been next in the line of succession. Except, the Crown Prince didn’t die, as planned, so he adapted the plan and became the advisor of the new King, getting him to join Nagri in their invasion of Sew Bli.
