Runes

Runes are used to store energy for various tasks across residential and industrial modern Parcadian services. To the layperson, most runes look like normal limestone, with small engravings across the surface. To a Runesman, there are differences.

Description

Runes are limestone-like rocks, typically ranging in size from a human fingernail (called Oolites), to large slabs used as the base for the Travertine freight vehicles in the Cawes Memorial People Transport System.

To a layperson, the runes have a slight shimmer and are more robust. Runesmen are able to differentiate the different properties of runes.

Types of Runes

Oolite

Fingernail to fist-sized round runes used for a variety of purposes. The most common of all runes. Can be recharged unless damaged. The smallest runes are used in jewlery for their healing energies. Larger runes may be charged to give off heat, light or both in a common stove instead of using wood.

Tufa

Hardend, pore-filled runes reminicent of a sponge. Used for filtering air and water.

Mirror

Large flat runes sheared perfectly in half and shined to a mirror finish - used for long distance communication.

Modern Research

With the reduced ability to mine Nodes, Runesmen research has turned to reusing the waste from creation and destruction of runes.

Mortar

Grinding down the waste and mixing it into a paste has formed a subtance called Mortar, which is used for repairing cosmetic damage in runes, weatherproofing structures, and other services.

Rumours are that the caves in the Cheese Cellar are being used to create small counterfeit runes which are almost identical to the ones created by the Runesmen.   [

I really like the idea of how water creates limestone, this should be representative of how the energy creates runestones
