Nodes

Nodes are the connections between two or more Channels.
The energy of the Nodes finds its way into objects that are around the Nodes for a long time, such as rocks and plants.
Rocks harvested from Nodes are called Runes. Creating, repairing and recharging of Runes is performed by Runesmen.

Harvested plants from Nodes are used for dyes, paints, ink, longlasting paper and other valuable resources. Timber is harvested for the Cawes Memorial People Transport System transportation buildings, the Mayorial buildings, and other Muncipal buildings. Parcadians avoid using the timber for other purposes.
Modern Parcadians prefer to have their homes as close as possible to the Nodes, as Runesmen can add runes to the walls to control light, heat and water. People who live closer to the Nodes seem to be healthier and luckier, whether it is because of their wealth or because of living so close to the Nodes constantly, it is unknown.
In the time of Helen the Founder, her family would winter near the Node with many other families, and would move to the areas now known as Parks for farming and hunting during the summer. Runes and plants were used, but the trees were left alone. The Pirate Raiders, would fight their way to Nodes so they could harvest timber for their masts.

Manifestation

Nodes often appear as rocky hills or large rock outcropings. There is not a lot of topsoil on Nodes, but the plants that grow there seem to adapt to the lack of topsoil and grow into cracks and crevices. Plants on Nodes appear healthier and bigger than those away from the Nodes, will bloom earlier in the spring and will last longer in the fall.
Nodes range in size from a small house to an area several miles around.

Localization

Central Parcadia has a large number of Channels going into it, leading scholars to call it a Super Node. This has led to the Consensus of the Leadership of Parcadia that Central Parcadia is superior to all the other City Centers.
