Alencia

Alencia is Romaya's sprawling, capital city. It boasts a population of over a million people, the majority of them living comfortably. Alencia is the continent's southermost city and rests in the valleys between the nearby mountain ranges. Its founder, Galdric Stormthorn, was said to have received visions of the land. A famine in Okana threatened the existence of the dwarves on its eastern coast, so they fled for Galdric's promised land. Stories say that Galdric was a speaker for Vokresh, but his son and current king, Daldren, disputes this. The Order of the Eternal Ring once held political power in the city, but after Daldren took the throne, his court severed all religious ties. He wanted to prove to the people that he wouldn't be swayed by fever dreams, nor the influence of supposed divine beings.
Faith in Vokresh remained strong, but faith in the Stormthorn's was stronger. The Order of the Eternal Ring was forced to build their sanctum outside of the city walls. This separation led to continued animosity between them and the Stormthorn Dominion. They begrudgingly work together due to the war with the Liosduin Bhearna. Reports of undead activity throughout the south was followed by strange growths appearing throughout Alencia. With so many disturbances, the Stormthorn's military force has been stretched thin.
Alencia is well-fortified by a surrounding stone wall and the watchtowers that were built along its length. The gates to the city are open day and night, only closing during active threats or war. Specialty shops can be found all over the city, as well as anything mundane that someone might need. While it's packed and bustling during the day, the city truly comes alive at night. Clubs and casinos open up, taverns are crawling with patrons at all hours, and the night market opens up for those on alternative schedules. The city is divided into five major districts; the markets, the docks, the administration zone, the crafting district, and an industrial district. The king and queen reside in a humble estate in the administration zone with their seven children.

Industry & Trade

A majority of the inhabitants are loggers, miners, and foundry workers. Carpentry is a popular career choice, which led to the formation of the Carpenter's Guild. Furniture shops exist in nearly every district, only rivaled by tailors. While Alencia is a port city, its economy thrives on the trade of timber and livestock. Aside from those, rice and iron are major exports.

Climate

Being the southernmost city on Romaya, Alencia is cold, sometimes uncomfortably so. While the mountains shield them from the worst of the winter storms, snowfall is frequent and heavy. Summers in Alencia are cool and breezy. Winter, on the other hand, is long, cold, and rough. The drier air makes the surrounding woodlands more susceptible to wildfires.
