SummaryDetails
Origins
The Bloodline of Storms bears a distinct mark - statuesque physique, and swirling patterns that often are reminiscent of tempests and bolts, inked in blue and silver, manifesting on their skin at birth. This mark pulses with a faint glow when they draw upon their innate powers, casting an ethereal light that enhances their imposing presence.
Legends fancy that the peculiar ancestry of Zephyros the Stormcaller traces back to an ancient union with storm giants, rugged beings known for their dominion over wind and lightning. These primordial creatures, in a moment of rare benevolence, shared their essence with the first Stormcaller and ancestor of Zephyros herself, henceforth marking her line as a conduit of raw, volatile energy. This gift continues to surge down the generations, its potent essence undiluted, distinguishing Zephyros and her descendents as one of the most magically powerful Bloodlines within House Magia.
When the bonds between magicians unraveled, so did the Stormcaller's restraints, spurring her exodus alongside her sorcerer brethren. Through the raw, untamed wilderness, they voyaged north, their path cleared by the unbound gusts of wind that danced above them. Upon reaching the distant frontier, she joined the founding of Cruxis, a sanctuary where sorcery, in all its unfettered glory, could flourish. Her lineage, the Bloodline of Storms, born of giant's blood and the resilient spirit of sorcerers, emerged as an enduring symbol of Cruxis' defiance and drive.
Motivations and Goals
Zephyros sorcerers, bearing the namesake Stormcallers after their foremother, are a tempest of motivations and ambitions, akin to the storms they command. Predominantly, they aspire to prove themselves as indispensable to Cruxis, through their control over weather crucial to the city's agriculture, trade, and defense. Driven by a fierce, if volatile, loyalty to Cruxis, they endeavor to ensure the city's survival, prosperity, and security. Yet their goals can sway unpredictably, just like the winds they command, competition and spectacle also ranking high among their aspirations. Despite their innate chaos, there remains an undercurrent of simple wisdom and good spirits within them: their power serves not just themselves, but their Bloodline, House Magia, and the city they swore to protect.
Role within Magia
Zephyros holds a dual role within House Magia. First, they are the wardens of weather, harnessing the elements to ensure favorable conditions for agriculture and trade. Their ability to clear the skies for trading ships or summon rains for crops is invaluable, making them crucial to the city's prosperity. They are also called upon during times of strife, turning the fury of the storm against any who dare threaten Cruxis. Secondly, they serve as a volatile yet thrilling force within House Magia's complex politics. Their unpredictable nature and the raw power they wield make them a wild card within the ever-shifting power dynamics of Cruxis. Their allegiance is often courted by the other Bloodlines, as the support of Zephyros can often provide a powerful tailwind to their arcane stratagems.
Values and Belief
Zephyros, despite their chaotic demeanor, are anchored by a strong set of values. They revere freedom, individuality, and the sheer uncontrolled power of the skies, reflected in their approach to magic and life. This respect extends to every member's right to shape their own path, leading to a high degree of individuality within the Bloodline. Their belief in the value of strength—be it physical, magical, or of character—is closely tied to their ancestral understanding of the natural order, where storms cull the weak and reward the resilient. Despite this harsh worldview, they carry an unwavering sense of loyalty and duty towards their home, and by extension, House Magia. In alignment with their Chaotic Good nature, they believe in the inherent freedom of all beings, often leading them to clash with oppressive forces. They do not shy away from standing up against injustice or tyranny, even when it invites conflict. Their methods may seem erratic, and their tempers quick to ignite, but beneath the storm's fury lies a sincere desire to safeguard Cruxis and its people from harm.
Leadership
The Zephyros Bloodline chooses its Storm Monarch through a grand celebration known as the Stormcall, a breathtaking spectacle where prospective leaders compete for supremacy in a series of athletic and magical challenges, drawing upon the physical prowess bestowed by their storm giant heritage. Amidst conjured squalls, they must command the tempest and prove themselves superior in their dominion over wind, lightning, and each other, culminating in a grand airborne race through the mountains surrounding Cruxis, weaving through the unforgiving gusts and lightning of a raging storm. Held every two years, the Stormcall captures the attention of Cruxis and beyond, the victor earning the title of Storm Monarch for the upcoming cycle. Currently, the mantle of leadership has been claimed by Elysia Zephyros in the past three games. An emblem of her bloodline, Elysia embodies the storm's mercurial character and unyielding spirit. Despite showing no patience for politics, her sharp tongue and fearless poise has earned the unyielding respect of her bloodline, House Magia, and the city she helps govern.
Storms do not ask for permission...
"... nor do they bow to constraints. They rise, they rage, and they leave their mark upon the world.
We are the Stormcallers of Zephyros. As storms shape the world, we shape Cruxis, striking down adversity and sowing seeds of prosperity. We rise, we rage, we mark our existence on the annals of time. And like the storm, we show the world that nothing can stand in our path."
