Borrowing Money

Knighthood is a profession of Honor, and knights should not sully themselves with base affairs of lucre and borrowing. But, just in case... It is possible to borrow money, but it should be avoided at all costs. Borrowing money is a lowly activity, entirely unworthy of chivalry. Avoid it—it costs Honor. Failing to repay a debt causes a further loss of Honor, and possibly even the loss of title, privilege and one’s ancestral holdings. Poverty is, at least, still honorable. Loaning money and collecting interest is called usury. Usury is a sin and Christians are forbidden to do it. And, of course, people do it anyway. Money can be borrowed from Pawn Brokers or Merchant Bankers, or by Mortgaging your land.
