Didact Cassius III
Kestronus Fedrona
Born Kestronus Fedrona, Didact Cassius III is widely accepted as the worst Prime Didact in recent memory. Known mostly for his exceptionally long life for a human and his neglect of central Didacy operations, Cassius dismissed all voices of opposition throughout his tenure and led The Didacy into a deep state of neglect and disrepair. His legacy of perceived incompetence, still fresh in 9048, is still being grappled with by the Didacy and the current Didact, Victus XXII.
Birth and Early Life
Kestronus Fedrona was born the son of Didact Bassala I in 8886. The youngest son of 13 siblings, he was never expected to have duties with the Didacy unless he pursued a specific area of study in which he could gain expertise. He regularly skipped his elementary classes, and did not wish to partake in the organization's various activities. However, when Kestronus was 15, his siblings and mother were all killed in a Roilreach Cyclone which caused part of the Didact's Wing of the Didacy to collapse into the sea. Kestronus was off the island with his father when this event occurred, and upon their return Bassala began training him how to be Didact immediately.Ascension to Didact
Kestronus Fedrona took up the role of Didact at age 16 in 8902 after the death of Bassala I. He took the name Cassius at the advisement of his many aids to evoke one of the better liked Didacts in recent memory, Cassius II. Immediately, Cassius proved to be difficult to control. He began dissolving various departments of the Didacy including but not limited to the Revival Corps, the Asset Retrieval Team, the Accounting Department, and the Bathysphere Club. The massive amount of salary and budget savings resulting from this freed up immense funds, which Cassius used to lavishly furnish the Didact's private wing. Taking Moisanna Bellstriker as his wife in 8935, Cassisus sired one child by the name of Ceilia Fedrona, born in 8940. Ceilia would grow up with an intense interest in the magical arts, however Cassius' budget cuts continued throughout her lifetime, stifling her ability to learn. When Ceilia turned 20, she departed Greenwave and never returned. It is unknown where she went.Withering Away
As the years continued, Cassisus continued to slash integral functions of the Didacy and abuse his position to acquire property on the islands of Greenwave and Crush. He even began bribing Consulate Parliament members to vote for expanded budget allotments for the Didacy. The corruption became so rampant that Consul Herman Stargazer ventured to Greenwave in person to deliver a letter of indictment on charges of treason in 8975. However, the Didact used his position as the "Third Consul" to officially pardon himself. The very public legal spectacle turned the already-sour relations between the Didacy and Consulate into outright hostility. Many on what was left of the Didact's Advisory Council began planning for his death as he aged. However, by age 100, now remarried to a second wife, Ellia of Crush, he was withered and walked with a limp, yet did not show any signs of being near death. When he caught wind of their plans, he had them all dismissed. By his 115th birthday, Cassius was the sole operator of the Didacy. Rumors began to swirl about him neglecting even the most sacred and secret of duties and rituals which the Didact is expected to attend to. When it became clear to the various staff of the Didacy that Cassius was nowhere near death, many quit outright and the Didacy experienced a mass labor shortage at the turn of the 10th millennium. The only staff that remained were various Warforged and multi-generation instructors. The town of Greenwave began to shrink during this period due to the lack of students and tourism. The Didacy itself fell into physical disrepair, tarnishing and eventually blackening in the brine of the coast. In the last years of his life, he was rarely seen in public and was only accompanied by a handful of aids and housekeepers. On the morning of 31 Grey Skies 9034, Cassius was allegedly walking toward the outer portico of the Didacy when he tripped and fell down the 500 stair incline at its front. Falling down the entire staircase, Cassius was left at the bottom on the street leading into Greenwave. Due to his nonexistent entourage and dwindling Didacy staff, he was not discovered until that night when he had already succumbed to his injuries. He was declared dead on the scene.Legacy
Didact Cassius III's death sent shockwaves through the island of Greenwave and the Didacy. While many in the Consulate were content to let the Didacy die with Cassius, a small contingency of Greenwave citizens, remaining Didacy professors, and a handful of prodigal administrators convened to decide a course of action to save the institution. The group resolved to find the heir of Cassius, a descendant of his daughter Ceilia. Over the next five years, this group was dispatched across Perradin in their search. In 9039, they returned with a person they claimed to be the new Didact. He was quietly taken to Vortex to testify in front of the Consulate Parliament on his intent to legitimately rebuild the Didacy and to uphold Consulate Law, after which he was sworn in as Didact Victus XXII. Victus immediately returned to Greenwave and has spent the past eight years undoing the damage Cassius caused in his century-long administration. In the years since, the Didacy has repaired the island and Didacy physically, has courted new staff, and has begun to return to some of its former strength, resurrecting long-disbanded groups such as the Asset Retrieval Team.Relationships
