Letter from Sofia to Milos
Milos,
My dear son, I’m so happy to hear you’re safe in the south. I am safe for the time being. Thanks to the help of some very kind folks from Balsearenta, we made it into the mountains just like we always planned. Unfortunately I believe the nasty folks from the Crag are still occupying our home.
The city elders found me and gave me your message. Your friend Brog was on his way out on a caravan when he saw me and realized who I was. He said we share the same chin. You should take that as a compliment, son. It means you’re very handsome, just like I always say. He offered to pay for a response message, which was so kind. He sends his regards and said “that kid could handle anything that comes at him, even a mountain falling on top of him.” I certainly hope you’re staying out of dangerous caves, son.
I can’t believe how far away you are now, but I hope you don’t worry about me. The nasties from the west really seem to be ignoring us here and going after Balsearenta. No one is really sure why. But please know that I’m safe and Maude Man-eater is helping us all stay sane. She is the town therapist after all.
Be sure to eat your greens and don’t get into trouble by merging with stone too much.
And remember, as long as you carry that lovely shield, you carry your home with you.
Be safe, son. I love you so much.
-Mom ❤
