Fade
It is said that the death of one is just the beginning of the disintegration of the self. There are deaths: like the final time one's name is spoken. Spirits in transition between realms; minds devoid of bodies; the incorporeal lost: it is said they fade away when they are have lost themselves and they are lost to the worlds they are tied to.
As a noun, a Fade, is the designation for a spiritual being that has begun its final decay. Whether it be trapped in a nether realm between the mundane world or any higher levels of hyppereality, or it had been passed onto a subtle realm. Either way (or perhaps others) a Fade is a being that near utter annihilation, that is: it is literally fading away from knowing and being known.
The followers of Yov—among the Tétraosians, Kiels, and the Daoshi in particular—espouse an ideal of actively seeking to become fades and then the release of utter extinction. As one of Yov's epithets is "the Lost," it is believed that after passing on the knowledge of becoming a fade, Yov himself became one only to pass on to annihilation.
Critics of the Yovites have alluded to the notion that Yov himself having chosen the Path of the Fade and extinction, somehow returned enraged and violent and became the Necromancer of Iy. It is unclear whether or not this is true. It is certainly not accepted among Yovites.
