Lightning-touched Metal-heads Report
General Summary
Previously: Wayside Destroyed
The party quickly mix things up, downing potions and summoning a spirit-weasel to damage the myrmidons (suits of plate armour animated by binding a strong elemental into it) from inside. Anathema finally separates them with her wand of fear, enabling the party to concentrate on one, and then ambush one of the others as it comes back into range. (The other is driven so far away it carries on in the direction of Fort Locke.)
With that accomplished, they venture inside the building and discover two sources of noise: one thump from upstairs, and a sinister voice from downstairs. While Tharg and Anathema head upstairs to discover a non-hostile gnome (an apprentice wizard named Cray Onderquill), Herdyr is not as careful as she could have been, and sets off a hidden magical booby-trap.
While she sees and disables the symbol on the cellar trapdoor in the kitchen, the glyph of warding hidden above the archway to the kitchen releases a damaging burst of thunder on Herdyr, and alerts everyone around of her presence.
Taking the lead, Tanuviel descends into the cellar at the head of the party, using his incredible smooth talking to pretend to be another cultist. While Teega the blacksmith drags a victim in front of a terrifying, four armed metal statue of Talos, intending to carry on with her ritual, Tharg gets direct, and hits her around the back of the head with his weapon.
