World Back story
500 hundred years ago, the War of the mages raged. Near the end the Black mages made a final stand in the Marad, then only a city with wide plains around it. As the black mages threw their might together and raised mountains rippling outward in a circle the mages surrounding them tried desperately to tear those mounts down resulting in the slightly q shaped mountain ring that now surrounds the city of Marad. In the end, they say the war was won as much by the Black mages recklessness as by the valiant efforts of the other mages. The flat bowl inside the mountain ring had had every once of Mana ripped from it's soil, rendering barren and dead, neither plant nor animal thrives there and Mages can't reach any mana to cast spells unless the climb the rocky side of the mountain ring. In the end, the black mages built their own jail. Any that didn't die during the war, and hundreds maybe thousands did, some from that last desperate spell had, like the land itself, had the mana ripped from their body. The resultant mana storms blow across the valley for weeks afterward like massive dust devils. 295 years ago a visiter from another realm brought together three separate tribes of men to form the City of Gilth, now a thriving city of close 250 thousand people. 100 years ago the War of the Selkie ended (a small skirmish compared to the war of the Mages) and now all races (not just the Nine mentioned in the Tabeth) are, if not exactly, given equal rights in the city, at least have some laws to protect them from persecution. But nobody knows how long ago Dragons still roamed the world. Most people are sure Dragons are only myth. The Port Corvone is older than Gilth and beneath it's streets are secrets even older than the port city.
