He also was a wielder of formidable magic, which added another layer to his imposing presence. He used this magic both as a tool of control and as a means of protecting himself.   As the Ariki of Whare Moana , Porang ruled with an iron fist. He enforced his authority through a combination of physical strength and powerful magic, further solidifying his dominance. His impulsive nature could lead to swift and brutal punishments for those who defied him, ensuring that he remained in control. Despite his impulsiveness, Porang was not a fool. He understood that his actions could lead to retaliation or rebellion, so he surrounded himself with a small, trusted inner circle. These loyal followers provided him with counsel and protection.   Porang's rule was marked by a reign of terror and cruelty. He was a feared figure in the region, known for his brutal leadership style and willingness to maintain his power at any cost. His legacy was one of oppression, and his subjects lived in constant fear.   Porang was slayed by Zylnala Tapiha during the Tapiha coup.
Porang succeeded his father. And as many Ariki did, he banished his siblings from Whare Moana. He wanted to ensure his rule would remain uncontested, and this ruthless act underlines his commitment to maintaining power.
