Eyjafjördur

The capital city of the northern island kingdom of Vestmannaeyjar. Built into the side of a fjörd, the city is made up of multiple tiered districts. Miraculous mechanical trams link the different parts of Eyjafjördur. It is a hub of sea trade in the north, sending ships and boats across the Amarantine and Lyung Shan Seas as well as down the River Serpentine to the south.
The lowest district of city is the Lower Whald Market, which is filled with docks, taverns, and little shops. Just above the wharfs are the slums of city, affectionately called Barnacle Bottom. Positioned just above Barnacle Bottom is the Lower Fjördheard, a lower class housing district.
Above those are three districts. The Mitter Tier is a section of the city filled with merchants. Shuvark Square is a centrally located area full of craftpeople. To the west is the Vesterlund Moot, a district devoted to pleasure and meeting halls.
The highest tiers of Eyjafjördur are occupied by the upper class and those of noble blood. Upper Fjördheard is a residence reserved for the wealthiest members of the capital's population. Ingerfell Cliffs also houses much of the upper class as well as high end boutiques and the mages' guild of the Ivory Halls. Lying between them is the King's Keep, the castle belonging to the royal family.
Positioned at the very top of the fjörd is the Helmhald Watchpoint, crowned by its impressive beacon at the top of a tower. It serves as the headquarters for the Winter's Vanguard, the elite lawkeepers of the capital, housing the Winter's Vanguard Academy, the Temple of Helm, and the Brinehold Dungeon.
Located to the east several miles of the capital is the hamlet of Östa. It is a farming community that grows much of the grains and produce that feed the citizens of Eyjafjördur.
A few miles to the west outside of Eyjafjördur is an old barrow. Interred there among others, is King Gunnsteinar, the ancestor of King Naddodd and his descendants.
