Vestmannaeyjar
A northern human kingdom governed from the city of Eyjafjördur. It is a land of ice and fire, that values grit and vigor above anything else. The kingdom started as a smaller territory on an island chain in 1 HE. Its name in fact means "Western Islands of Man." Over the centuries, their borders have expanded, pushing into the territory once held by Leto and other kingdoms that have since been absorbed into either Vestmannareyjar or the Imperium Deus.
Its military is called the Sun's Brand. They have fought the wars of conquest and guard the kingdom's borders in a series of forts on its southern border. The western most of these forts, Arnallshorfa, is commanded by Commander Björg Grimlaugsdottir, a human werebear woman of imposing stature. Other forts along the border are Hoskaldsvirkid, Gunnsteinshild, Mikilsstigann, Hakonargjöf, Kvernvagaturn, Signyjarsteinn, Hjaroarhalda, and Skulaskjöldur. Each one is name after a famous general of the Sun's Brand.
The elite guard of Eyjafjördur, the Winter's Vanguard, are devoted to protecting the capital and the monarchy. General Sigdora Geirleifsdottir is the current leader of the Winter's Vanguard. They are based off the Helmhald Watchpoint in Eyjafjördur. Among their numbers are the mighty goliath Britgan "Boulderbreaker" and the adventurer Helmet (formerly Sigmund) Einarsson.
Until recently, King Otri Naddoddson was the reigning monarch of Vestmannaeyjar. He was a bloodthirsty warlord, pushing the kingdoms borders even further than his father King Naddodd Islending Vestmannaeyjar had. His half-brother Stefnir Konungrason, the Archmage of the Ivory Halls served as his key advisor and vizier. Currently, Queen Eira Otrisdottir, eldest surviving daughter of King Otri, has taken the throne after her father's death. Her ruling council includes General Geirleifsdottir, along with Master of Words Henrik Domaldursson, High Priestess of Kord Nolrun Egillsdottir, and Bethrynna Isrus, the new Archmage of the Ivory Halls.
Although the giants once common in the Kingdoms of the North are much less frequent in the High Era, there remain a few giant clans. Fire giants have been spotted in the Giant's Teeth in the southwestern portion of Vestmannaeyjar. It is even rumored to be the location of the legendary Forge of the Dawn Titans. Some frost giants are still present in the Giant's Steppes near the central southern border and storm giants are sometimes seen by sailors in the farther northern reaches of the kingdom. An ax named Stormrender is the symbol of the royal family, said to have been made by the storm giants as a gift to the First King of Vestmannaeyjar in 1 HE.
