The Fall of Sergale
The most important battle since Drakenvald's formation, this single event caused a cascading failure of the country, splitting off Gwillith, and numerous countries to the south due to the specactular loss of life, and the destruction of the kingdoms capital.
The Conflict
Prelude
With the onset of starvation and poverty within the The Outlands, The chieftain Greyplains decided that he would lead a warband to march south, take prisoners and food, wealth and resources back up to the outlands to help improve the lives of such a harsh environment. With a small number of skirmishes up along the northern border of the Great Forests of Vitium, he caused enough of a distraction to march his entire army to the capital city of Drakenvald, one of the most difficult cities in the country to invade when the army was defending it.
Deployment
Thanks to a chance meeting with a warforged, that fell from the sky, Greyplains decided that his ultimate goal would be a two step process, first, opening the gates so that the rest of the army can get through, as the warforged was nearly indestructible. Seccond, he would charge in, and find the leadership of the kingdom, and dispatch them to help strike down morale.
As the warforged was set up, Greyplains made a three pronged attack, using siege weapons to attempt to scale the walls away from the gate, as well as a few catapults, ready to fire a few different boulders before delivering the warforged payload just behind the gate.
Being caught off guard, the city decided to split the defenders based on the wall sections of the city. As Sergale was separated into three distinct segments, the first layer took up 50% of the army, but only a handfull of archers, while the remaining 50% was split between the two layers, but with the kingsguard stationed to help only the royal family should they be attacked. Since the Trebuchets were attatched to the castle foundations, they were immobile, and on the ground level.

Battlefield
The battle took place on the green fields around Sergale, in a siege against the three tiers of walls. As it was night when the orcs attacked, visibility was low, but the sounds of an encroaching army was enough to put the leadership at unrest.
The Engagement
The attack began with a siege engine charge on the two flanks of the city, allowing the drakenvald forces to spread out their already fractured defences. Meanwhile, another charge took place, with shield bearers at the ready to block missile fire. Several orcs were grouped together to try and avoid the Trebuchet's mighty range, and it helped immensely for survival.
After the initial wave hit the city walls, and orcs began climbing, catapults were brought within range to try and take out the city walls, with the sole exception of the warforged ally of Greyplains. The third catapult shot contained Greyplains secret weapon, slaughtering numerous people at the gate before the gate was easily hefted open.
Once the gates were opened, the horde of orcs swarmed into the city, while the warforged did his duty, and smashed through numerous defensive lines, as an unstoppable force of nature, before reaching the kingsguard, where he was slowed, but still managed to take down all 200 by himself, before charging into the castle, and killing the royal family.
News of the execution of the royals was quick, with bells ringing the toll of surrender as soldiers attempted to help citizens flee into the mountains, but to little avail to the warmongering tribe of orcs. The city swiftly fell, and by morning was more a tomb than a city.

Aftermath
Due to the enormous amount of death, Sergale was considered potentially cursed. Its natural resources depleated, it fell into abandonment and dissaray, until Ayame Shiori came to the city and removed 1/3 of the city in order to make one of their own.
This battle nearly abolished the entirity of House Schwert, save for one child, who was rescued by elves two days after the battle had ceased. The fact the child survived for two days on its own was considered a true miracle in its own right. But, due to a power grab from Espeaux Shadowdirk, this also lead to a longstanding tradition of acceptance from the more monstrous races of the world, bringing Trolls, Orc, Dark Elf, goblins and many other species into equal partnership with one another.
In addition, tribes of orcs within The Outlands have become settled with Drakenvald human slaves, mostly of women and children. Though they are slaves, their decendents have become part of the orc tribes of the outlands just the same.
