Men are usually encouraged to physical affairs such as warfare and stonecutting. Farming and craftwork is a grey area for ideal jobs. Magic and study are dedicated to women's time, children are encouraged to follow their respective parents, but are often handed off to those who are just before adulthood for daily care.

Courtship in the Hazfen is a group affair. Usually, one person is encouraged by a group to engage with another. Those on the sidelines will give their summaries of the person in short bursts while the other sides listen. If accepted by the larger groups the two egged-on individuals will introduce themselves and their family names, occupations, etc. Lastly, the two will shadow each other at work, take festivals together, usually while trailed by the groups who judge compatibility. Great vast differences between the two people will make them appear successful as they will round each other over time.
