Sir Arthek Sodlark

Lord Arthek Sodlark

Sir Arthek Sodlark is the standing Lord of the Salian Isle, after defeating the previous Lord Tarquin in the Battle on Thunder Hill. He is a former miner and led the Miner's Guild members against the Bankers Guild during an attempted hostile takeover of the mines. Since defeating Lord Tarquin he's now known Lord Sodlark of Salian.

Early Life

Arthek was the second son born to Richard Sodlark of the Sodlark mining estate. His Mother was Gyrewela Smith, a blacksmiths daughter from Elroe. His brother Gryffin was a strong willed boy but would look out for Arthek, and the two shared a strong bound.

Naval Career

At 18, Arthek journeyed to Denly and joined the imperial navy. He was assigned the EIS Majesty as third officer following his training, as was tasked largely with patrolling the Terassic ocean. During the Marcian Wars, he was forced to take charge of the vessel following the death of the captain and first officer at the hands of Seldrinaran Battlemages. He was permantly promoted to captain afterwards, and giving command of the EIS Saunton, where he patrolled the Marcian channel.   The rest of his career was unnotable but he acheived multiple honours, but he took an extended leave in 979, 3a he recieved news his brother Gryffin had died under suspicious circumstances in Lordsport, where prominent imperial offical was accused but ultimately aquited. He left the navy in 985 after his father died of lungrot.

Miner's Guild

After returning to his family mine, Arthek took control of the estate and began to get more invovled with the miners guild. At the time of his running of the family estate, the miners guild was in extreme debt to the Bankers Guild. Sodlark helped the other mines financially stabalise only for the Bankers to change the interest rates and send the other estates back into debt. Suspicious of these actions, Sodlark set out to recruit some adventurers from Lordsport to investigate his suspicious

Recruiting the PPP and the Battle of Thunder Hill

Meeting in the Red Lion in the Merchants Quater of Lordsport, Sodlark met with three adventurers coming off a boat from The Vale of the Elves. These Adventurers agreed to investigate the Bankers Guild, and uncovered a plot to claim the miner's wealth for the Imperial King Donald and give their tunnels to their goblin stooges. Discovering this, Sodlark began to raise the mienrs in rebellion, sending the adventurers to Nosha to recruit the high mage there.   After failed negotations with Guildmaster Laurence and Lord Tarquin they raised their armies on the hilllands. The Miners were largely outnumbered and outarmed, with the local levies and banker's mercanaries clearly being the favourites to win the battle. However, the party of adventers and High Mage Armellion of Nosha proved pivotable in the battle.   Eldra, a dwarven bard, cast a spell that sent an entire unit of Mercanaries down a hill. This helped to break the party, and ultimately led to Lord Tarquin and Guildmaster Laurence being slain by the party and Sodlark. Following this, the hill became known as thunder hill and the battle became legend.

Lord of Salian

Following the battle, the bankers guild retreated from Salian Isle. Storming the castle in Lordsport, Lady Felicia, the sister of Tarquin willingly abdicated and Sodlark usurped the title. He sent diplomats to Saunton and Carely to cement his positon, and was offically giving status of Lord of Salian isle four months after his victory.   From here, he wrote of the miners debts and began to reform the merchants quater of Lordsport, making it more democratic and fair.
