Public Statements Regarding Moon Plague Controversy in Sigil
(An excerpt from The Sigil Mirror)
The following statements regarding the ongoing Moon Plague controversy in the city of Sigil are provided by city citizens and presented here with no further editing or commentary:
There are a lot of things I could say. Poems and stories and songs to quote. I will be doing all of that in the taverns and on the street corners from time to time. For now, all I want to say is that many eyes are watching our little city. I don't want to be telling stories of how we closed ourselves off to protect our friends and family. I want to tell stories about how this little town - with hardly anything to it's name, still managed to be heroes, and make new legends.Eesa
I would quite like to not be constrained to live within four city blocks.Murphy
Ever since I first came to this city from the Astral Sea, I have always seen it as a symbol of hope. A sort of beacon in the darkness, welcoming all who come, no matter their reasons. The dreamer in me wishes nothing more than to do as Kiri has asked of us. However, my duty in this city is to serve as captain of the Order of the Door, not to dream. If the doors open with the outside world in this state, we will see more dangers come to the city. Not just the new patients, but invaders from other planes. We will become a proxy for the fighting amongst the outside worlds and gods. I cannot guarantee the safety of our populace should this come to pass, and as such I must regretfully advise against this plan.Whitecrest
I pride myself in seeing every side to every problem, and I know for a fact there are many in this world who get treated like monsters without due cause. I feel for those people, and I want to help them whenever I can. However, this problem is not one we can help with. If time starts to flow here again after we fill the city with plague patients, then our city will be gone overnight. As much as it pains me to say it, we simply can't afford that kind of risk right now. Someday I hope Sigil can go back to its former self, but we aren't ready yet, and if we rush it then we may miss our chance.Atim
Aria, "the woman in glass", hangs above the city of Sigil. To those fortunate enough to have known her, it serves as a reminder of exactly how much she gave up to keep this city standing - and that she still fights for it every single day, in her own way. Aria is Einherjar now, and she had a strong hand in my upbringing. She is like an aunt to me, and I know she would want to help these people. It will be a bumpy road to be sure, but Sigil CAN survive. It has survived worse before, after all. And you have two Einherjar here to help guide you through. Make that three if I can get sleeping beauty to wake up. Not to brag, but we're pretty badass.Kiri
Sigil is now, and has always been, the shining city on the hill. We are the place where anybody, and I mean ANYBODY, can come to find a place for themselves. I remember seeing angels and demons literally playing chess together in the city park. I Remember Aria, who told us that hope looks forward, no matter what may lie in the way. I remember swapping alchemy advice with a mind flayer, aiding vampires in their search for a viable blood substitute. I remember Murdoch, the madman who could move mountains with a single machine... whether he meant to or not. I remember all of this. Do you? If so, then let's take it back again! And if you haven't seen it before... then let us show you what we can be when we have our shit together.Quentin Whitwillow
Charity is all well and good - when you can afford it. If you do not provide for yourself before you provide for others, then you find yourself just as much in need as the ones you were trying to save. That is Sigil right now. Let's mind our own business until we can actually afford to do otherwise.Nethis Rastrin
