The Tree on the Hill

The terrain used for the Training Games is different every time, and yet some features appear in every game. One such feature is "The Tree on the Hill", which is a single lone tree standing atop a grassy hill. Some of the older residents of Vigrid insist that this is a recreation of The Hanging Tree from the The Age of Rebellion, but the validity of this assertion is uncertain.
In any case, it is a popular destination. When a participant intends to give up a match, sometimes by suicidal means, they tend to travel to the tree to either slay themselves or make themselves easy to find by aggressors. Particularly poetic individuals have a habit of actually hanging themselves from the tree.
