Thurin Lavor (THOO-rihn lah-VOHR)

The Thurin Lavor (Secret Flock) is the intelligence service of the Kingdom of Eridane. The head of the service is formally known as the Seventh Magpie , aka the Keeper of Secrets.

The reference to birds derives from early elvish history, when birds were first trained to carry messages, as well as (with the use of avian familiars) to gather information. Birds were often preferred because they were rarely considered intelligent enough to be spies (particularly not by humans and dwarves), and they would be able to escape more easily if noticed.
