Arvum

The agricultural city of Arvum is located in the middle of a delta, atop fertile land and surrounded on all sides by rich farmland and orchards. Fruit trees grow by the streets, of which only the main ones are paved, so that carts can go on them without digging in grooves. The small side streets are left to grow wild.

Demographics

Most who live in the central part of the city are wealthy land owners who own the farms that cover most of Arator. They employee and are the landlords of the rest of the city, who work as farmers more often than nots. There are some outliers, who own shops inside the city, but the main goal of living in Arator is to own land, specifically farm land.

Government

The ruling family are the female descendants of Ceres Tari, and the nobles are the welathy few who own a majority of the Delian fields, or those who can trace their ancestry back to the human survivors who eventually joined Ceres in creating Arvum in the very beginning.

Defences

The delta rivers protect Arvum from land attacks, and the trade deals they have with the majoirty of other civilized countries are what they rely on to protect them in other cases. Their bridges across the rivers can be raised, and their standing army is trained.

Districts

The central district is made of large houses with gardens that have fruit bearing trees and other such vegetables and food based plants. The outlying districts, shopping and residential, are composed of smaller houses with less space in between, with fewer trees that are maintained by the city and while open to all, owned by no individual.

Assets

The main assets of the city is the delta rivers that it is surrounded by, and the agricultural wealth it has amassed.

History

Ceres Taris walked on a pilgrimage to the river delta that would one day become the city of Arvum and founded the nation of Arator by using the magic of their godly parentage to create a fertile land where all things grow. Her desperation and need to survive imbued the fertile land with agricultural magic, and made the nation what it is today.

Architecture

The majority of the houses are made of wood and stone, with the richest people having large gardens taken care of by workers. As the city grew and expanded closer to the river, the houses began to be built on stilts so that flooding would not affect the building process, and so that they would not interfere with the natural ebb and flow of the floodlands.
