Favus
Enrolling in schools in Favus grants temporary citizenship, and graduation makes that citizenship permanent. This stretches to the extent that even upon committing a crime in another country, Favus will take the person in and protect them because they graduated from one of their esteemed academies.
The country of Favus sits in swamp land, its cities and villages build on floating docks or high in the canopies of trees. The muggy atmosphere is perfect for the growth of the many herbs that Favus is known for, and its medical schools and herbal potions are the best in the world. Led by a council of the most educated minds in the country, Favus has turned its back on its roots of religious persecution in Apis.
Structure
Four schools are the center of Favus' structure, with the graduates being held up as the height of educational resolve. Graduates of all four schools gain the title of Mandrake, and are given the opportunity to join the Cypress Council, which runs all of Favus. The Cypress Council holds the power and responsibilities of Favus.
Culture
Favus is centered around the idea that elves, and all life essentially, was created to help and heal others. They seek to educated themselves and learn more about both magical and non magical healing, and they despise anyone who stands back and watches as someone is injured. Education and knowledge is the height of life for Favians, though the collection of herbs and rare animal parts is also prized as a worthy career.
Public Agenda
Favus is was created to be a safe harbor from all who were fleeing Apis' rules and regulations. They fled religious persecution, and while they still worship Ibu'fen and honor her, they take her mesaage of life differently than Apians and wish to spread that message.
History
From Apis, a group of Wood Elves fled the religious persecution of The Church of the Immortal Sorrow because of their belief in their own power of healing. They fled to an uninhabited island, uninhabited because it was a honeycomb of swampland, with dangerous beasts and poisonous plants. They built floating cities, including the four cities that surround the four famous schools of Favus: Dawa, the school of medicine, Safa, the school of philosophy, Muri, the school of arcane science, and Alhu, the school of psychology. Though the Favians still worship Ibu’fen, they believe she is much more hands off and has given them the power to save themselves.
Religion
Though there is no organized state religion, most Favians still follow Ibu'fen. Turned from organized religion by the Church of Immortal Sorrow instead their way of worship is more eclectic and based in personal ideas of worship.
Foreign Relations
Favus is known for having a rocky relationship with many other countries. While they are held in high esteem for their scholarly pursuits, they also will accept anyone who holds those same pursuits, regardless of past actions. This has led to fighting between Favus and other countries in the past.
Education
Education is the most important thing to any Favian. Their schools are held in high esteem, and even beyond their four main universities, most Favian cities have a large school that prepares students to enroll in the school of their choice. Even small villages have buildings that are dedicated places for young people to gather and learn, led either by themselves or by one of the travelling teachers that wander through the Uncanny Basin.
