Infernus Realm of Wrath (Zan'val kii Kulvii'iir)

The oldest region within the entirety of Infernus, where history, writing, and language all began, this region of the Realm of Wrath is Infernus's most prominent location. Often said to be the birthplace of the 1st of the 7 Primordial Ancient Demons, Zatan'na founded the realm and ruled over it for the duration of the rule of the Ancients. Over the course of time, this region saw the downfall of the Ancients, the resignation of the Elders, and the bloodiest war ever fought in its history. A region of rich history, turnings of eons, and now a hub of modernity in a time of relative peace.

Geography

Biomes

The region is located hundreds of miles north of the Realm of Pride, and sits in the center of the temperate zone. As such, a majority of the region experiences 4 seasons: summer, autumn, winter, and spring.   The dominant biome found in the region is the temperate deciduous forest, covering about 48% of the region. Most deciduous forests are inland, away from the coast. Following is the temperate rainforest biome, which covers about 29% of the region. Most temperate rainforests are on the western and northwestern areas of the region, closer to the coast.   Covering about 10% of the region are temperate grasslands. Temperate Grasslands can be found in the center-most areas of the region, usually between temperate deciduous forests.   Often found between temperate grasslands, temperate rainforests, and deciduous forests is the temperate woodlands and shrublands biome. This biome covers about 5% of the region.   Found closer to the coastlines of the region is the temperate wetlands biome. This biome is found primarily within the Zan'nil kii U'liis and Zan'nil kii Ka'ulin. Temperate wetlands cover about 4.4% of the entire region.   The final and smallest biome found within the region is the alpine biome. The biome is only located to the west and northwest of Gremory Domain, as well as north of the Great Ba'luna Forest. This biome only covers about 3.6% of the region.

The Zan'nil

In the English language there is no literal translation of the Elder Word "Zan'nil," for in the Elder Script it is not a single word, but a combination of both words and ideas. The best translation would be, "a land of prospering," where a subject would follow the phrase.   There are 5 Zan'nil in the region: Zan'nil kii U'liis, Zan'nil kii Ba'luna, Zan'nil kii Univiil, Zan'nil kii Ku'ul, and Zan'nil kii Ka'ulin.

Zan'nil kii U'liis

Roughly translated to "A Prospering of the U'liis," the Zan'nil was founded during the Elder 1st Line, generation Overrule. When first founded it was initially named Zan'nil kii Satan'na, but later changed to U'liis in honor of the extinct royal family.   Zan'nil kii U'liis is both the largest and most populous of the 5 Zan'nil, and is home to 4 of the 72 Greater Noble Houses. House Satan'na, modernly known as House Avernus makes its domain on the western coasts. Located within the Avernus Domain is the High Royal Family of Avernus and the capital city of U'liis, with Avernus Palace only a mile away from the city. Sitting between the Un'daliin Eastern Mountains and the San'niil'kaaz Mountains is the Saleos Domain. The domain was founded during the Elder 4th Line, generation Fruitful, by Elder Demon Kal'niirmir Saleos. The domain is home to the greater noble household of Saleos, the most powerful of the greater nobles houses in the Zan'nil, with the exception of House Avernus. The domain is largely a temperate deciduous forest, with rolling hills scattered to the north and grasslands scattered throughout. Most of civilization is settled near or on the Riin'yuniil River, or on the various freshwater lakes. To

the northeastern area, east of the Ral'zaliin Mountains is the Gremory Domain. Home to the greater noble house of Gremory, both the house and domain were founded during the Elder 4th Line, generation Fruitful, by Elder Demon Sakrul'anul Gremory. The domain is most notably distinguished due to the Eriin'viil Range, specifically The Spire Mountain that is only a few miles north of Gremory Grounds. The domain is colder than the other domains due to it being at a higher elevation.
Lord Devil, look at that view! The whole domain on the horizon.   Whatever. Can we go back down now, it's cold as all balls up here.

Found in the south of the region, directly southwest of the San'niil'kaaz Mountains is the Gusion Domain. The domain is home to the greater household of Gusion, founded in the Elder 5th Line, generation Turmoil. Temperate rainforests and grasslands fill most of the domain. Wetlands are found closer to the various rivers found within. Of the 4 greater noble domains, the Gusion Domain receives the greatest amount of rainfall. Due to large amounts of rainfall, and an abundance of sources of water, the dominant of the Elementalists are hydromancers, mages skilled in Aqua Elemental.

Zan'nil kii Ba'luna

A tragedy that befell the great royal family. An entire family, gone in a single night. And how ironic it was that the death of the family was done by the prince's own hand.
Avernia Kiin'tel. A Family Awaiting to be Forgotten to Time
Roughly translated to the Prosperity of the Ba'luna, the Zan'nli was founded during the Elder 1st Line, generation Overrule, by In'mei'aniil Ba'luna. Zan'nil kii Ba'luna was once the 2nd greatest of the Zan'nil in the region, but after the Ba'luna Massacre, it became the least powerful.   The Ba'luna Massacre was an incident that took place during the Contemporary 6th Line, generation Enlightened, in which the Demon Prince Envii'kalurul Ba'luna slaughtered ever last member of the royal family. Oddly enough, the body of Envii'kalurul was never recovered. Some speculate that the demon prince still lives, hiding from the public, somewhere unknown in the Realm. Others believe that King Ba'luna killed and burnt Envii'kalurul to cinders, before succumbing to his own wounds.   Whatever the story, the tragic night that saw the disappearance of an entire house plunged the Zan'nil into a downward spiral, both economically and politically.   The Zan'nil ever only had one greater noble household which, unfortunately, was the Ba'luna. Since the extinction of House Ba'luna, there exists no greater noble household, only lesser noble houses.   Most of the Zan'nil is covered in temperate deciduous forest. The famous Great Ba'luna Forest is also located here, with Ba'luna Grounds hiding in them, waiting to be lost to time.

Zan'nil kii Univiil

Roughly translated to "The Prosper of the Univiil," the Zan'nil was founded during the Elder 1st Line, generation Overrule, by Kal'moliil Uni'viil. Zan'nil kii Univiil is home to 2 of the 72 greater noble households.   Southwest of the Noosed Hills, making their home is the greater noble house of Ashtaroz and their domain. The House was founded during the Elder 3rd Line, generation Prosper, by Elder Demon In'kemiir Ash'taroz. The domain is primarily temperate grasslands, and as such, a large part of its economy revolves around agriculture.   Directly west of the Kiin'kir Range is the Barbatos Domain, where the greater noble house of Barbatos calls home. Both the domain and the house were founded during the Elder 4th Line, generation Fruitful, by Elder Demon Saa'moniil Bara'batoz. The domain is rather ordinary compared to the others. It's much more rural for certain, but one unique aspect of the domain is that this the only place in the region that is home to the Filvii. Filvii are medium sized winged demons that have a chilling frost breath that can they use as a lethal offensive attack. House Barbatos is famous for taming these demons, often being called the Filvii Riders.

Zan'nil kii Ka'ulin

Roughly translated to "The Prospering of the Ka'ulin," where in this case Ka'ulin is roughly translated to "flooded lands", Zan'nil kii Ka'ulin is the 2nd most powerful of the Zan'nil. Most of the southern regions are classified as wetlands, primarily concentrated on the southern coastlines and rivers. 2 of the 72 greater noble households are found here.   With its northeastern portion containing the Aa'moshiin Forest, the greater house of Aa'mon can be found, making their domain northwest of the Ka'shintel Forest. The House and Domain were both founded during the Elder 2nd Line, generation Stagnant, by Elder Demon Aaminiir'iin Aa'mon. Most of the domain is temperate deciduous forest with various grasslands scattered about. Situated near Yuliin Lake, is Aa'mon Grounds.   With cities famous for their nightlife and gambling, located on the Ovul'oliniir Gulf is the domain to the greater noble house of Mal'tas. The House and domain were both founded during the Elder 5th Line, generation Turmoil, by Elder Demon Jin'pilniir Mala'tashz. House Mal'tas is an economic powerhouse due to their domain containing two renowned cities throughout the 7 Realms. Both the cities of Kaz'miir and Pen'shiil attract millions of tourists for the cities' nightlife and gambling.

Zan'nil kii Ku'ul

Roughly translated to, "The Prospering of a Battlefield," the Zan'nil kii Ku'ul was the site of many major battles during the Infernus Civil War and all 4 Holy wars. Being that most battles were won by demons in the land, it gained the name of being a prospering battlefield.   The zan'nil has no noble households. Lesser nor even honored households are found out of respect for the long history of fighting, and the demons and devils that perished. The Zan'nil, small as it may be, attracts millions of devils and demons per year, primarily to the see the Manu Desolation and the Manu'viriin Woods.

On the Lineages Within

Of the lineages of demons, there are 3 main ones: The Ancient Lineage, The Elder Lineage, and the Contemporary Lineage. Each lineage was defined by a major turning within Infernus: The Ancients Rule to their downfall, The Elder from their overrule of Infernus to their resignation, and finally the Contemporaries after the 4th Holy War and the resignation of the Elders.   The Ancient Lineage spans from 9.8 billion years ago to the year 700,000 BCE. The Elder Lineage spans from 700,000 BCE to the year 1 BCE. Starting from year 1, and continuing to the present is the contemporary lineage. Years shown are in mortal years found on Earth.

Government

Since the Rule of the Elders, the form of government within the region has mostly remained the same. The entire region, and to the full extent of the Realm of Wrath, the High King of Avernus has complete and total possession. The High King is not, however, a single ruler. The Elders were wise enough to not leave power into the hands of one. Like all Infernus, there are checks and balances that prevent any one High King from having too much power...politically anyways.   To prevent power in the hands of one, specifically within the Zan'val, the High King can be directly vetoed by either the Elder Council or by the Iniil'shazul Council if either feels a law or piece of legislation is deemed "harmful." The Iniil'shazul Council is a council of ambassadors from either a royal, greater, or lesser household.   Ruling over a region, and keeping with the laws of the Realm are the Royal Families, led by a Demon King. These families have more power than typical greater noble households, but less than a high royal family. Under a royal family is a typical greater noble household, who rule over a set, large domain within a specific Zan'nil. Finally, under the greater noble households are the lesser noble households, which rule over a set, and small domain.   Within greater and lesser domains as well as towns and cities that are not located in a domain, there are smaller forms of local governments which are usually led by a mayor.

Economics

Both fiat and commodity money are used within the Zan'val. More commonly used is the Ruvah, a modern fiat-based economy that has a set value. Ruvah are only printed on papers. When compared to the U.S. dollar found in the Mortal Realm, 1 Ruvah is equal to 50ยข.   Rarer and widely less accepted are the Yula'viir, or the commodity money. These forms of tender are natural resources found all throughout the 7 Realms and are valued in terms of their rarity. Each yula'viir is crafted into a unique coin with its own value based on coin weight. The most common yula'viir is a metal known as Ekrikal, which weighs 6.0g in coin form, and is worth 14 Ruvah. The rarest metal found in the region also happens to be the rarest of Infernus: Nolz'zul, weighing 100g and worth 6,347 Ruvah (3,173.5 USD) in coin form.
