Antìlàn Orfyvyénà

What We Know about Antìlàn

Antìlàn was a powerful mage in their time who possessed three Elemental Shards: Wind, Light and Fire. This tri-affinity likely earned him the title of "Warrior Mage" as he would need to dual-cast to keep his internal Elemental Balance in check. There is no record as to whether his casting technique involved more than one physically-present weapon or any at all.

When Did He Live?

He lived for around sixty Ana and his life spanned the pre- and post-First Destruction period. While he did serve Qal'ath during that war, after the Rebuilding had begun he retired to the life of a researcher and chronicler.

Mages Prior to the Circle

While the Crystal Circle as we know it was only formed following the First Destruction, it appears that Elemental Mages still gathered together for sharing skills, tomes and techniques. He was likely a contemporary of the unnamed female Mage who banished the "White Dragon of the First Destruction" to The Forbidden Heights.

Family Name

Antìlàn's last name is more likely a title than a family name given it is derived from the Elements Orma, Fyr and Aevyen.
The Lack of Elements in Naming Conventions
As for the remaining two dominant Elements: Erdé and Ousii, it seems the modern term for Marsh of Erdousii stemmed from the Seers in the Wild Marshes being mostly focussed on what the ground and water could provide, which makes sense given their physical needs were predominantly met by these two Elements. This gave greater mythological "focus" to the other three Elements.   It should be noted, that at the founding of Qal'ath, society only recogised five elements (which was with a "small e" at the time). Ethkiel would follow later.
