Life, Identity
Tem and the CR5 confront E4 prime at the edge of the Shapeless Sands.
Session 53: E4 prime, battle begins
After an intense stare down following E4 prime’s acknowledgment of Tem’s bronze work, tension ran high. A few words were said, but everyone knew where the night was going as prime extended his wrist blade, and Vel casted his rite of the storm on his scimitar.
As the fight the fight began, other things went on in E4s mind palace. Going through his myDocs filing cabinet, E4 discovered some key information regarding primes past, some of which being several targets who he seemed to by gathering intel on, and then shortly eliminating. He learned about a code phrase at the wooden thump inn “I’d like a cidar ale, hold the apples”, as well as something called project cloudkill, that seems to have failed. He even saw a vision seemingly of primes past of a strange clandestine underground meeting, which went awry. “A dark figure saying “When you receive the signal, seek out and eliminate [staticy redacted name], but first, I grow the miserable shits in this room. Kill them all. Now.” Which was followed by prime following out that order a literally as one could, dispatching everyone in the room including the one making the command. Lastly, through the sea of corrupted files moving more toward recent times, E4 could make out a recurring name “Semena Mertvykh”
On the surface world, the fight began with prime charging Tem, hesitating, and then near mortally wounding Eri before darting and hiding off into the night. Without E4 out of sight, the rest of you dog piled Buford, with Tem heating his armor to alarming temperatures, brogg disarming him, Vel hitting him with a brand of castigation, and otherwise just surrounding him from literally every angle. Meanwhile, E4 found a strange music box which seemed to temporarily change prime into a cowboy, and expose him for a brief period, though likely not for long. After enough pressure, Burford taps out and begins to slink away. Tem attempting so miracle work with his bronze work, was able to project E4 onto the battlefield princess laya style for a brief period of time long enough for E4 to tell them all to run or kill prime, or else he will kill them. Eri pursued prime on horseradish but to only small success, with Sal saving her from being downed two more times only to drop once again from E4s attacks. We re-enter the battlefield on E4s (stormy) turn, who feels his connected beginning to flicker out. Is there any information you’d like tell them or any action you’d like to do while its still open.
Session 54: E4 prime, battle ends
We opened this last session in pitched combat, with the tides against you all as Eri is repeatedly downed by E4 prime. Making matters worse, Prime deals a near deadly blow to Vel, however is unable to finish the job. Taking advantage of the situation, Sal turns Vel into a big monkey scary monkey, forcing prime to switch his tactics, and go for Sal instead. Prime fires a deadly bolt, capable of serious injury and likely the concentration on Sal’s polymorph, if it weren’t for Sal’s mirror image spell that harmlessly took the bolt in his stead. The tides sharply shifted back in favor of the party, as everyone surrounded Prime from nearly all angles. In E4 world, E4 triggers the run feature on an music box he had found in the “start” drawer, causing to prime flee combat instead of attacking. Prime makes a makes dash on foot, but horse-mounted Darkvision party chases him down, with Eri in the lead. Seriously injured and defensive, Prime attempted to down Eri to negotiate a release, but to no avail, with Eri quickly over powering. In a moment of clarity from her form of dread, Eri found herself with the task of deciding whether to finish off E4 or incapacitate Prime, to which she chose the former, dealing a critical hit smite that destroyed the assassin bot and dent his body lifelessly to the ground. As Sal preventatively dispelled the charging gorilla vel, Tem ran over shoving Eri aside to look over the broken E4, and a somber moment ensued as he saw the damage she’d done. An intense argument broke out over the death of their friend, with tensions rising higher and higher. Meanwhile E4 watched with a sense of peace as his surrounding glitched and started to blink out,… then darkness. ….Then the sound of powering up, as everything flashed back in. And while the CR5 argued amoungst themselves, they nearly missed the light flicker back on in E4s eyes, and the automaton sitting back up with a half bashed head, and looking back up at them.
Session 54.1: E4
E4 learned more of prime’s past and fears, as well as a written piece of code which programmed free will over a stress threshold. While traversing back through a digital version of the quarantine prison that E4 had initially escaped from, he took up anti-viral weaponry, and ran into a projection of Jeremiah, who came to help. Prime 0 and E4 met face-to-face in the quarantine room, where he nearly succeeded in getting prime to acknowledge a life beyond his programming. However, unwilling to face quarantine again, prime became aggressive. E4 quickly gained the upper hand, and downed prime at the edge of the electrical trap. But in a moment of compassion, decided to attempt to help him instead of finishing him. With the aid of Jeremiah and the pendant, E4 attempts to alter primes code to remove his aggressive instinct. E4 struggles to abstractly modify prime, nearly facing corruption, before have a strange vision of his own bronze work. A last ditch effort to modify his mistakes, sends him further into his vision where he sees an ancient sight to which he could not possibly understand, before hearing a message which he find out to be from Rig. Now a sunny day in Behemith, he calls him over to help him insert a clay square into its casing, a tracker in case he ever gets lost. Rig send him off to find Tem at the fight arena, when it begins to rain, and E4 looks up to see his friends staring back down at him.
