Nira
Nira is a Vistani outcast and an agent of the Dark Man. Her hand was marked with an odd, six-pointed scar, like an X with a line through the center. Vanya has never met her. When Rose met her, she was pretending to be a kindly peddler woman, but she used her tarokka deck (which she claimed had once belonged to her son) to trigger Julien's Sight. She also sold cursed objects to people who treated Julien unkindly, making it look as though he were forcing them to hurt or kill themselves. One of the items, which she sold to Rose, was marked with the Vistani trail sign for "safety" rather than the sign for "curse," but you never found out what it did.
When Julien read the tarokka, Nira was filled with religious awe. She raved about how The Dark Man wasn't the only one who could forge a sword (a reference to Julien's reading and how her people would finally be avenged. She also told you that if he wanted to learn how to use the Sight, the Tribe of Hyskosa was at his disposal; that if he didn't learn how to use it, it would tear him apart; and that if you told any other Vistani what he could do, they would kill him.
The Weathermay twins later told you that Nira's scarred palm meant she was a "darkling"--an outcast among the Vistani. Hyskosa was a dukkar himself, so Gennifer Weathermay's conclusion was that Nira had probably been cast out for having a connection to him.
You aren't sure exactly how deep Nira's connection to the Dark Man goes, but he definitely told her that Julien had the potential to be a dukkar and asked her to awaken his talents, and she was grateful to him for it.
