Timeline of De Carlo/Scarlatti conflict

Two months ago: Rodrigo Scarlatti starts angling for a piece of the De Carlo Trading Company , more and more aggressively.
Two and a half weeks ago: one of the wagons, run by Bernardo Verdi, seems to have less cargo than it should; Alessandro de Carlo makes a note to check whether one of his employees is skimming. According to a drover on that wagon, Bernardo smuggled three large crates in and was speaking in rote phrases. He also rushed ahead of the rest of the caravanto get it in early. Bernardo personally delivered the crates somewhere before bringing the grain shipment to the warehouse.

Two weeks ago: Maria Scarlatti returns home. Rodrigo has an angry meeting with Alessandro; Silvia de Carlo didn't hear what it was about, but they sounded close to blows. Bernardo Verdi cuts his own throat.
Twelve days ago: Rodrigo sends Alessandro a ranting letter accusing him of growing fat on the profits of Falkovnian trade while people suffer. Alessandro, disturbed, goes to stay with Vincente Travatello to clear his head.
Nine days ago: Alessandro is supposed to meet with Rodrigo at the Golden Swan, but Bianca Scarlatti comes instead. Alessandro comes back to Vincente unwilling or unable to talk about anything but selling the company to the Scarlatti, then goes home.
One week ago: the sale is finalized
Five days ago: Alessandro dies of a sudden heart attack without ever having opened a safe full of extremely sensitive documents on Falkovnia.
