Rorisgrad
Nestled in the Astergorian hills around 5 miles due east of Astergor. Once a key trading city in the ancient empire of Svartvelheim, Rorisgrad fell into ruin circa 600 ma. The cause of the abandonment of the city is believed to the be the results of an earthquake that caused part of the nearby Mount Brökenspur to collapse - causing avalanches and destroying the route of a local river that likely supplied the ancient city with water. The ruins were excavated by the 33rd Scouts prior to the outbreak of the 4 Year War between the Duchy of Jameleska and The Snow Lord†.
Government
The city was ruled by a local minor monarch that paid tribute to Lich King Gryllfagor. The names of any kings or the nature of their relationship with Fasingos is lost to history, so most of the assumptions on its government are based off of what limited knowledge has been gathered by historians and artefacts stored in Archives of Storvakis.
Industry & Trade
From Doomed 2 Die's and Professor Lierand's expeditions Rorisgrad is revealed to have been a trade centre. Within its palace complex trade depots were found holding an array of artefacts including perfume, ambergris, and plentiful food stocks implying the city had a vibrant market economy.
Districts
The full geography and layout of Rorisgrad is currently unknown, but outlines of at least 4 districts seperated by a deep road and surrounded by a now diverted river can be found. The palace quarter has it's own internal walls and is the best excavated and known.
History
Rorisgrad was founded sometime during the early Svartvelheim period in the mythic age. Its strategic location in the astergorian hills likely gave it acces to through roads and safe roads going from the Arthos river valley and ore rich northern mountainous regions of Jotun.
By the mid-Svartvelheim period the city likely reached its full size and height of its power. It is probable a city in is position was a wealthy and important city-state prior to being vassalized by Gryfllagor. The city appears to have had a poor relationship with Gryfflgor with an elemental cult thriving beneath the palace. The legend of the Rorisgrad elemental cult was well known enough that rumoured elemental weapons fuelled several small scale excavations and eventually a larger excavation led by the 33rd scouts.
The city's collapses occured rapidly - with common household artefacts and bodies being preservered in partially excavated and reavealed lower quarters and important trade materials found in the palace. By 1052, 3e, the only visible portions of the city are the tallest towers of the palace quarter, which provide an entrance to the buried floors beneath.
The Duchy of Jameleska launched a full expedition to excvatate the ruins to serach for elemental weapons at the outbreak of their wear with the Snow Lord. The Snow Lord's forces also marched from Eagle Falls to intercept the scouts and the ensuing battle destablised the hiddden elemental portal within the palace ruins opening a permanant portal to the Frostfell, the elemental para-plane between the planes of air and water.
It was from this portal The White Will emerged alongside other elemental horrors. The scouts and Frost Giant patrol were killed and the dragon went on to invade the western hold. Most of the elemental creatures would be killed when Doomed 2 Die launched a follow up investigation into the ruins and set about closing the portal permantly upon their defeat of the white dragon.
