Daniel's Farm
After Will chose to continue his training as a Ranger, Halt briefly told him about his father's sacrifice. He never wanted to go into greater detail, fearing that Will would resent him, and blaming himself for his parents' deaths because they had both died saving him. It was years later when Halt told him the full story of how he was the one to bring him to Redmont, including the full story of how his father had saved him and of his mother's true death. After Halt told Will the full story they visited his mother's grave at Daniel's Farm.
Architecture
Like most Araluen farms, it was a small wattle and daub house with a thatched roof.
History
Halt, while trying to learn the location of Daniel's Farm, was directed to Jerrel and Kord since they had been asking questions and knew a lot of people. He would the discover that they had plans to rob the families of fallen soldiers, including Daniel's. Disguised as a soldier Halt joined the two in their tent and, while pretending to be drunk on their wine, fed them false information intended to spook them. Later that night, while Halt pretended to be asleep, Kord and Jerrel deserted with plans to begin their robberies, starting at Daniel's farm.
Halt tailed them, but they had gotten to the farm faster than he thought they would, they were already in the process of robbing Daniel's wife when he arrived. When Halt intervened, in the confusion, Kord fell into Halt's drawn seax. Thinking it had killed him, Halt faced Jerrel. It hadn't though, and using his last bit of strength, Kord grabbed Halt by the ankle and pulled him to the ground before dying. Jerrel, seeing his opponent had fallen, rushed forward to finish him. Daniel's Wife then leapt on his back, pulling him away from Halt. They crashed through the room, knocking over the table and smashing a wall before Jerrel drew and lashed out with his dagger, slashing her side. Halt, having risen, quickly stabbed him with his throwing knife.
Daniel's wife was already beyond saving, but before she died she told Halt her son's name was Will. Halt dragged the two robbers out into the woods and left them there, returning to bury Daniel's wife. Not knowing her name, he marked her grave with a tombstone reading "A Brave Mother."
