Realmic Introduction

Odius is both battlefield and graveyard. The forces of frost and flame have locked themselves in an endless war for untold eons with neither able to claim even the smallest victories. Corpses of ice have piled up to form mountain ranges while dead flames fill lakes of molten flame or blinding ash. With no side able to outman the other and no confliction to bind them together, the war for Odius started at the creation of the cosmos and will likely only end when the cosmos finally goes dark.
Even the interference of exoteric forces surmounts to simply more casualties that cover the landscape. The most prominent of these casualties are the remnants of First Men architecture in their failed attempt to claim the “Core of Odius” for their own. Through the use of First Men artifacts, the Elementals of Odius were able to leak from their war-ravaged realm for several years. To stop this, the greatest minds of three realms came together and sealed away this destructive war. This seal would be the prototype for the fate of Ravarus.

Energy Sources

To acquire power on Odius you must either give yourself to a side in the conflict or discover a way to reawaken the machinery of the First Men that can be found in ruins across the realm.

Glow

Nearly drained leylines cross the landscape of Odius having been excavated from under the realm’s crust out of wartime necessity. Any Glow still accessible in large amounts is a main point of conflict.

Primal

The Titans of Odius do not suffer invaders within their realm. Only Primal Ice and Primal Fire can be found, and even that must be bargained for or stolen. Both have high failure costs.

Faith

Odius is a faithless land. There are no gods here, and the Titans have no use for souls. The domains that were left behind by the First Men serve as a warning for anyone venturing into this realm.

Geography

The landscape of Odius can be placed into three distinct categories. That which is owned by flame, that which is owned by frost, and that which has been harvested completely by both and forgotten.

Territories of Flame

Locations under the ownership of a Flame Titan are transformed into incandescent meadows pockmarked with craters of living fire that function as the breeding ground for Fire Elementals. In place of natural flora, cultivated flames wave in the wind like prairie grasses and spiraling mounds of carbon function as trees.
Long-established regions dedicated to flame are distinguishable by the massive crater that is found at their center where the heat of the realm’s core can be siphoned. This process weakens the realm fundamentally and is incredibly dangerous for all life within Odius. These regions are prime targets for Ice Titans who desire to return order and stability to the realm.

Territories of Frost

Locations under the domain of a Frost Titan are overgrown with crystalline structures formed in the mockery of ancient woodlands. These trees are grown and harvested to allow for the birth of new Ice Elementals. There is a distinct stillness to these regions where life should be found.
Long-established regions dedicated to frost are identified by the towering structures found at their center that allow Frost Titans to scan the horizon for threats to the realm’s stability. These vantage points are essential to the process of seeking out and rebuilding parts of the realm that have been carved away by the minions of flame.

Frostflame Wastes

Places that have been stripped of resources and sit unclaimed by any Titan are common across Odius. These wastelands are represented by cavernous fissures, charred terrain, and half-melted glacial formations all stripped of resources both magical and physical. Despite the lack of resources, the Frostflame Wastes are the safest for exoteric explorers and can function as landing points on the realm.

Flora, Fuana, & Fungi

The ecology of Odius is distinct enough to deserve an entirely new form of classification. Where other realms would have beasts prowling through forests, Odius has fragments of Elemental energy mimicking life it once knew. Crystalline ice formations grow into what could only be described as a reminder of a tree while fire motes scurry around with frenetic energy they recall from creatures long extinct. Despite the conflict of its native Elementals, the realm craves the stability of a proper ecosystem.

Sophonts

Once, when the realm was stable, there was room for sophonts. Their memories linger deep underground, safe from the wars of the surface. Many of these memories were extracted by the First Men to fill their musuems of conquest and in their place now sit the ruins of failed colonizers.

Well this is somewhere I'm not putting on my vacation list. I do like the idea of ice growing into a mockery of fauna and fire copying life though.
