Personal history

Before becoming a Darklord, Alain was a privateer who captained a vessel called Ouragan. Beneath the public facade of a daring hero, Alain was a cruel and abusive captain. Aboard his ship, even the most mild transgressions were met with mercieless beatings. Eventually, his crew could stand no more—they mutinied, flogged their captain, and threw him overboard. As Alain sunk beneath the waves, the Mists of Ravenloft closed around him. They deposited him in the Domains of Dread, on a small lighthouse island of L'île de la Tempête.
