Inter Planar Travel

One of the great minds that have come out of the Izzet League is a Vedalken by the name of Triel . Originally focused on the study of pocket dimensions, they discovered a means of stable transportation to other locations on the same plane. Using a method resembling the magic used in the Bag of Holding, they created locked doorways to set locations in Ravnica. Able to transport inanimate objects through these portals, a new form of technology became available throughout all of Ravnica. Those objects transported through the portals are torn apart and broken into their organic components to be used for various means of recycling. With stable portals now available to transport inanimate objects, with an eye to transporting living beings in the future, an entire new form of technology became available. No longer limited to small pocket dimensions, items can be sent from one location in Ravnica to another. While currently limited to a fixed location, the goal is to provide mobility to those portals, so that they can be carried around by individuals. Thanks to Triel, new possiblites have opened up for Ravnica, and a new future is on the horizon.

Utility

While its common use is the Disposal Unit , the portals have to be locked away due to criminals using them as body disposals.

Discovery

While instigating the use of pocket dimensions, and how they work, a Izzet League scientist was fascinated by the stability in the passageways used to get to those dimensions. Those miniature openings were what inspired the idea of inter planar portals.
