Area - Normanland

Normanland, the frosty frontier just before The Frost Wastes, defines the northernmost edge of Heimerland and, indeed, the entire region of Arboria. Its stark, austere landscape is blanketed by snow and encrusted with ice that glitters beneath the pale, weak sunlight of its short days. Despite this harsh environment, Normanland is far from barren. Indeed, its icy expanse harbors a unique and resilient life, both Human and otherwise.   The region's terrain is primarily tundra and glacial, featuring sparse vegetation that is most visible during its brief, chilly summer months. Small shrubs, mosses, and hardy grasses break through the ice, providing meager sustenance to the resilient fauna of Normanland. Normanland occupies almost a third of Heimerland, and despite its severe climate, it is home to two of the nine Heimer Clans.   In the relatively hospitable southern half of Normanland, the Dannir clan thrives. They have carved out a living along the Meginelva river, where the land graciously yields some fertility during the warmer seasons. The Dannir people are sturdy and resilient, embodying the spirit of endurance inherent in their challenging environment. Their daily lives are a testament to the strength that can be born of struggle, and they are known for their hospitality, their unwavering commitment to the welfare of their community, and always ready to lend a helping hand to a friend in need.   The northern reaches of Normanland, even more frigid and inhospitable, are the dominion of the Hrafnir clan. This clan has adapted to their extreme environment in a way that is as remarkable as it is austere: they live in fortresses carved from the very ice that shapes their world. These structures, chiseled from massive glaciers, protect the Hrafnir from the elements. They subsist on what they can glean from the land's scarce resources, primarily nourished by subterranean rivers teeming with fish and abundant cave mushrooms. The Hrafnir's survival strategy has molded them into a more guarded, less trusting people. They are seen as cold-hearted, manipulative, and greedy - a testament, perhaps, to the harshness of their frost-encrusted home. Their relationship with the land and the elements is a continuous struggle, yet one they undertake with grim determination and an unyielding will to endure.
