Area - Wayn Valley
Named after the river that has tirelessly carved and shaped it over millennia, the Wayn river.
The river Wayn, originating from a crystal-clear spring tucked away high within the Valpine mountains of Ezrenhelm, meanders gracefully northwards through the heart of Sturmgard. Just as it approaches the gleaming city of Weisswall, the Wayn unites with the river Bree, its companion in journey. Together, they culminate their voyage in a glorious spectacle, cascading as a breathtaking waterfall into the expansive Nord Sea.
Along its lengthy, winding path northwards, the Wayn is accompanied by a bevy of smaller rivers and streams, each contributing to its strength and vigour. Among these, the river Spree stands as the most notable companion, carving its own path before merging with the Wayn.
The rivers Wayn, Bree, and Spree are more than just waterways, they are vital lifelines. Despite their modest size at times, they are partially navigable, enabling the steady flow of river commerce. Specialized vessels designed for river navigation ply these waters, transforming these serene rivers into bustling trade arteries. Weisswall, situated strategically at the river Wayn's mouth, stands as the heart of this trade network, the point where all paths converge.
The Wayn Valley is a vivid painting of lush greenery, with fertile fields reaching out as far as the eye can see. Quaint towns and villages dot the landscape, nestling peacefully on the river banks, their images often mirrored in the clear waters. The valley serves as the local breadbasket, its fertile lands nurturing bountiful farms that feed both locals and city-dwellers alike.
Woodlands, sparse but vibrant within the valley, add a touch of wilderness to this domesticated landscape, while the surrounding hills are covered in thick blankets of forest. The forested eastern edges of the valley are sparsely populated by the native Feynarin from the Elderwood, who are stewards of this natural bounty.
On the western edges of the valley, where the earth rises into the rugged Hinterlands, one can spot a few underground mines carved into the cliffs. These are the veins through which Sturmgard draws its iron, a resource that strengthens its heart and fuels its industry. The Wayn Valley, in essence, is more than just a geographic feature, it is the lifeblood of Sturmgard.
Along the Wayn river, just a stone's throw away from the town of Cragshire, lies the serene lake Blausee. Its clear, azure waters provide a striking contrast to the surrounding verdant expanse, drawing many an eye. The lake mirrors the tranquility of Cragshire, with its charming cottages dotting the shoreline.
