Boris - the Bounty Hunter
Biography
Early life
Boris's early years in the frost-kissed town of Relok, in northern Kyrus, were marked by hardship and familial strife. Born into a modest carpenter's family, reeling from the loss of their matriarch during childbirth, Boris and his brothers were ensconced in a world of sawdust and survival, under the stern gaze of their widowed father. While his elder brother embodied the son every father dreams, being dutiful, intelligent, and steadfast, Boris meanwhile was the family's untamed spirit, a whirlwind of rebellion and untapped potential. Drawn irresistibly to the wilds beyond Relok and the tantalizing whispers of adventure, Boris became the architect of his own legend, crafting tales of escapades that were as much a balm to his restless soul as they were a thorn in his father's side. His misadventures, though fraught with the peril of youth's indiscretion, were fueled by a yearning for something greater, a life beyond the confines of carpentry and conventional expectations. Boris's brute strength and indomitable will were his only allies in a world that seemed too small for his burgeoning dreams. Boris's reputation was built on a foundation of rebellion and recklessness, he was stubborn and impulsive, often seen as bumbling and dimwitted. However, his true asset lay in the formidable combination of his raw strength and willpower. The bond between Boris and his youngest brother was a testament to the power of admiration and the infectious nature of audacity. Together, they would steal away to the local tavern, their ears eager for the tales of passing adventurers, each story a spark that kindled the flames of their aspirations. Yet, their father's prohibitions, meant to shield them from the seductive pull of these tales, only served to forge their resolve in secret defiance.Leaving Relok
The crucible of Boris's life came to a head on the eve of his departure from Relok. Spurred by a conviction that his destiny lay beyond the familiar snows of home, he sought his father's blessing, only to be met with refusal. It was a refusal born of fear, a father's fear for the safety of his son in the unforgiving world of adventure. Undeterred, Boris chose to forge ahead alone, unaware that his decision would set the stage for a tragedy that would alter the course of his life. In the shrouded darkness of his departure, Boris's youngest brother, inspired by a mixture of hero worship and sibling loyalty, followed him, unseen. The calamity that ensued, a fatal encounter with the wilds' merciless wolves, left Boris bereft, his dreams tainted with the blood of the brother he sought to protect. The familial bonds that had once anchored him to Relok were irrevocably shattered, as his father, consumed by grief and anger, cast Boris out, blaming him for the heartbreaking loss. Exiled and alone, Boris set forth into the world, his heart heavy with loss and his soul ablaze with a desire to prove his worth. The memory of his brother's untimely death became both a shadow that darkened his path and a beacon that guided his journey. In his quest for redemption and glory, Boris would come to embody the paradox of a man driven by the noblest intentions, yet haunted by the specter of a past marked by folly and tragedy. His departure from Relok was not just a physical journey but a passage into the annals of legend, where Boris "the Bounty Hunter" would seek to reclaim his honor, at any cost.Lone adventurer
Boris's ventures into the world of adventuring were quickly marked by the realization that his singular approach to problem-solving was ill-suited to the collaborative efforts typically favored by bands of adventurers. His penchant for direct, brute-force solutions and a stubborn refusal to deviate from his chosen path proved to be a poor match for the nuanced strategies and cooperative tactics employed by more seasoned groups. Frustrated by their admonishments and feeling constrained by their methods, Boris decided that he was better off alone. Solitude afforded him the freedom to tackle challenges in his own, unorthodox manner - though this often meant causing more chaos than calm in his wake... The bear: Hearing that a dangerous bear was seen near a village, Boris tracked the beast down only to find it had wandered into the local inn searching for food. Boris's solution? Barricade the doors and set the inn on fire, declaring, "If the bear's in there, problem solved!" The bear escaped unharmed through a window, and the villagers were left without their favorite gathering spot. Boris claimed success since the bear never returned. The bridge: Tasked with stopping a band of marauders from crossing a vital bridge, Boris decided the most efficient method would be to destroy the bridge itself. With a grin and a hefty amount of explosives, he obliterated the bridge, effectively halting the marauders. Unfortunately, he also severed the town's only trade route, earning him the ire of the residents and local merchants who had to wait and struggle until the bridge was rebuilt, causing them famine and losses anyway. The Ogre: Hired to eliminate an Ogre menacing a mountain village, Boris engaged the creature in combat but found himself outmatched. It was at this critical juncture that a spark of what could only be described as ''Boris brilliance'' ignited within him. If he could not best the ogre in combat, he would cut off its access to the village, thus protecting the inhabitants from further terror. Boris devised a plan to demolish a dam that served as the only crossing point from the ogre cave above, down to the village in the valley below, effectively isolating the ogre from the village. His execution was flawless, the dam giving way under his forceful sabotage, and in doing so, he severed the beast's route of destruction. While successful in isolating the ogre, the released floodwaters ravaged the village below, ironically fulfilling Boris's mission but at the cost of the very community he aimed to save. The artefact: When hired to retrieve a stolen artifact from the well guarded thieves' guild in Nakhovo, Boris's plan involved disguising himself as a large, ornate vase, waiting to be stolen and taken to their hideout. Once inside, he waited for the cover of night to grab the artifact. Unfortunately, he got stuck in the vase, causing a racket as he tried to escape, which alerted the guards. In the ensuing chaos, the guild accidentally set their headquarters on fire, resulting in a town-wide panic, allowing Boris to escape with the artifact amidst the confusion. The duel: When Boris, renowned for his brute strength and dubbed "the Bounty Hunter," was challenged to a duel by a famed swordsman seeking to enhance his own reputation, the townsfolk gathered, anticipating a spectacle. The swordsman, swift and precise, was a stark contrast to Boris's imposing figure and straightforward approach. As the duel commenced under the watchful eyes of the town, it became clear that what Boris lacked in finesse, he made up for in sheer power. With a mighty swing, Boris managed to strike the swordsman's blade directly, the force of the blow shattering the steel as if it were glass. A collective gasp rose from the crowd, witnessing a feat they could scarcely believe. With the swordsman now disarmed and the fight seemingly over, Boris eyed the shards of steel at his feet and then his own unblemished sword. In a moment that would forever be etched in the lore of their town, Boris tossed aside his weapon, declaring that a true fight should be balanced. Before the swordsman could fully comprehend the gesture, Boris closed the distance and delivered a powerful headbutt, a move as honorable as it was unexpected. The swordsman crumpled, defeated not by swordsmanship, but by the unyielding force of Boris's conviction. As Boris helped his dazed opponent to his feet, the crowd erupted, not in mockery, but in genuine admiration. Here was a man who fought not just to win but to maintain a sense of honor and fairness, even in combat. Boris's victory that day was not just a testament to his physical strength but to his unique sense of integrity, winning him the respect of both the townsfolk and the swordsman he bested.Rising renown
Boris's saga, woven from threads of sheer brute force, accidental ingenuity, and an often comical shortfall in planning, saw his name rise in renown. He may not be the keenest blade in the rack, but his unmatched resilience and raw power, paired with a knack for blundering into triumph, have forged a legacy as indelible as it is chaotic. Yet, beneath this whirlwind of might and mishaps lies an unexpectedly honorable core, Boris ''the Bounty Hunter'' walks a path guided by a crude sense of fairness and integrity that, surprisingly, wins hearts as often as his antics draw bewildered laughter. It's this blend of might, mishap, and unexpected nobility that ensures Boris will be remembered not just for the uproar he incites but for the moments of genuine heroism that shine through the chaos, painting the portrait of a legend who is as honorable as he is unpredictable. The big one
It was amidst this chaotic crescendo of his career that Boris stumbled upon the quest that could redefine his legacy - the recovery of the Tsar Vlad's lost heir, spirited away by Ogres into the wilds beyond the Gap of Grief. Here was a mission with stakes high enough to demand his full attention and potentially offer redemption for his past indiscretions. Unlike his previous exploits, this task held the weight of the entire Tsardom of Kyrus on its shoulders, pitting the future of the realm against the looming conflict between the Ice Princess and the Patriarchate. With his raw strength, unwavering willpower, and perhaps a newfound wisdom gleaned from his solitary adventures, Boris faced the possibility of not just redemption, but of rising to legend. This was his chance to demonstrate that behind the brutish force and misguided decisions lay a hero who could save a prince and, with him, the future of Kyrus. Thus, Boris set his sights on the Gap of Grief, where fate intertwined his path with that of Kazimir Vodyn. Kazimir, a figure tethered by duty both to his sovereign and the fortress under his command, enlisted Boris in a mission of paramount importance: the retrieval of the Tsardom's vanished heir, one now known as Broglan, a task charged with desperation and hope in equal measure. Yet, Boris was not alone in this undertaking. A myriad of bounty hunters and bands of adventurers, each driven by the promise of glory and reward, ventured into the wilds on the same quest. In the untamed expanses beyond the Gap, Boris found himself navigating not just the perils of nature, but the rivalries and conflicts that arose amongst those who sought the prince, setting the stage for a journey fraught with danger and unexpected alliances.Personality
Boris is an enigma wrapped in the guise of a brute. His towering frame and formidable strength often belie the complexity of his character. At heart, Boris is an adventurer driven by a simple yet profound code of honor, he believes in fairness, often going to great lengths to ensure that his battles are won on equal footing, even if his methods are unorthodox and his solutions inadvertently comedic. Despite his apparent lack of foresight and a propensity for causing as much trouble as he solves, Boris's actions are guided by a deeply ingrained sense of right and wrong. He values bravery, loyalty, and the pursuit of glory, not for personal gain, but for the sake of a good story and the well-being of those he considers under his protection. Boris's demeanor is as straightforward as his approach to problems, he wears his heart on his sleeve, making no attempt to mask his feelings or intentions. This transparency, coupled with his raw physical power, has a way of disarming both friends and foes, often leading to unexpected moments of camaraderie or, in some cases, confusion. Despite his reputation for being hot-headed and impulsive, those who know him understand that beneath the surface lies a man of unwavering determination and surprising kindness. Boris navigates the world with a blend of strength and simplicity, making him a beloved figure among those who share his journey, even as they brace themselves for the next wave of chaos he's sure to bring.
