Broglan - the Barbarian
Biography
Broglan, once hailed as Bogdan, a scion of Kyrus, has become a figure etched in legend and whispered about in both fear and awe across the frigid expanses of Ogria. Once the beloved prince destined to inherit the throne, sent away by his father to protect him from an insidious plot to end their royal line, he was spirited away to the barbaric wilderness by a twist of cruel fate when Ogres abducted him before the Gap of Grief amidst a blinding blizzard. In the iron grip of Ogre tyranny, the young Bogdan was reduced to a mere toy, a source of amusement for the brutish creatures who lorded over him in their fragmented realm of tribes and tumult. Yet, the Human spirit, fiery and indomitable, refused to be quenched. Renamed Broglan by his captors who carelessly slurred his royal name, he endured the savage rites and trials of Ogre society, his princely finesse giving way to a savage tenacity. Through years of strife and struggle, Broglan's keen intellect and cunning set him apart from his monstrous peers. His Humanity, suppressed but not extinguished, was his secret weapon, enabling him to navigate and eventually dominate the hierarchy of his captors. Rising in a revolt fueled by raw courage and shrewd tactics, Broglan claimed the chieftain's throne, enforcing his rule with an iron fist and the merciless heart of a despot. His newfound authority within the tribe was unquestioned, held firm by the dual threads of fear and respect. Despite his transformation into a chief as brutal as any Ogre, Broglan harbored a sense of kinship towards his own kind. In clandestine mercy, he granted freedom to captured humans, a silent homage to the world he was torn from. As the tides of unrest surged in distant Kyrus, where the Ice Princess and the zealous Patriarchate vied for dominion, Broglan's legend grew ever more potent. Stories of the Human chieftain ruling over Ogres became ever more relevant, and lured adventurers, mercenaries, and bounty hunters deep into the savage lands. They sought the enigmatic prince who had traded his crown for a chieftain's helm, and attempt to return him for either the bountiful reward or to see stability return to the realm, igniting a quest that would breach the chasm between his past and present. As the last embers of Tsar Vlad's reign flicker in the looming dusk, Broglan stands as a pivotal force, a wild card in the impending struggle that threatens to fracture the land he may barely remember as home. But being away for so long, from such a young age, he had mainly forgotten their language, the customs, way of life, all of it. Bogdan was now Broglan, and this was his place. He knew life could be better in the south, where he knew he was taken from, but he felt he had a purpose here to fulfill, so he would remain, dodging his pursuers.Personality
Broglan, the erstwhile Prince Bogdan, has been shaped by the savage lands of Ogria into a figure of immense complexity. The harshness of his adopted home has stripped him of princely decorum, replacing it with the raw brutality necessary for survival among Ogres. Yet, beneath the veneer of the barbarian chief lies a cunning mind and a will of steel - traits that enabled not just his survival, but his ascent to power. Broglan is a leader who rules with an iron fist, tempered by a strange mercy for his fellow Humans. He is both feared and revered, his commanding presence and strategic acumen command the respect of the Ogres, while his occasional acts of unexpected compassion reveal the lingering Humanity within. He's become a man caught between worlds, transformed by his environment yet unable to fully forsake his innate heritage and the latent memories of a life once destined for a throne, not a tribal crown.Relationships
