Jaspuc
Located towards the south of the Holy Gilder Empire, the County of Jaspuc (Tearvin language Jáspucnu Frấd) is one of the poorer counties despite its vast tracts of land. With agriculture being only possible along the banks of the River Ach, Jaspucs had a history of resorting to banditry and raids aimed at their neighboring countries before the formation of the Empire which has earned them their current reputation. Reigned by the von Eilester bloodline with a notoriously lax grip on state affairs, jurisdiction is left to local authorities to a far greater amount than in other Estates.
Culture
Jaspucian soil breeds hardy, frugal people that either have no time worrying about others or plenty of it to envy their neighbors. Those in the north and west often cast jealous glances at their southern and eastern countrymen or neighbours, especially towards their traditional rival Falkalt and the prosperous Zeldent. In turn, this has bred them a fierce streak of independence and ambition as well, with large parts of the populace being versed in defending themselves. A Jaspucian peasant is far less persuadable to relinquish his produce than one would expect in other countries, which is why bandits prefer to operate beyond the borders of the county.
