Session Eight 1/23/24
General Summary

The party embarks on their continuing quest, aiding the myconid colony in uncovering the source of their affliction. Delving into the depths, they stumble upon Sovric, flanked by a motley crew of goblins and drow. Tensions soar as Sovric communicates through an ethereal portal, portraying a translucent image of the imposing blue dragon, Sparkrender. Furious over Sovric's previous failures at the temple, Sparkrender threatens dire consequences should he falter again, even going so far as to menace him with the loss of another eye. With a curt command to his second-in-command drow, Sovric departs, leaving the party to confront the remaining adversaries.
A chaotic clash ensues, culminating in an unexpected twist as the drow second-in-command, Renvas Phundry, betrays his comrades. Extending a cryptic greeting to Kasari, he hints at a connection to the infernal ruler Belial before challenging Kasari to a duel. In the heat of battle, Kasari seizes half of an amulet bearing Belial's sigil from Renvas, who swiftly vanishes into the shadows. Uncertain of Renvas' true motives, the party presses on, unraveling the source of the blight afflicting the myconids—a crystal obstructing a vent, emanating toxic fumes from a nearby dragon burial ground.
With the myconids restored to health, the colony's Sovereign expresses gratitude, granting the party permission to harvest heart cap mushrooms. Additionally, the Sovereign suggests seeking out the imprisoned Dragon Aidron at the Clifftop Observatory, hinting at potential aid in the impending conflict. Content with their accomplishments, the party exits the cavern, only to be ambushed by Sparkrender, incensed by their interference. Thankfully, Elder Runara intervenes, engaging Sparkrender in a harrowing battle to ensure the party's survival. Despite sustaining injuries, Runara manages to evacuate the party to safety within Dragon's Rest.
