The Lich Confrontation: A Battle for Survival
The party, having ventured deep into the dungeon beneath the graveyard home, found themselves in a desperate battle against three liches, each wielding terrifyingly powerful magic. Kasari, Zavania, and Finkelstein squared off against these ancient undead mages, unleashing their own abilities in a fight that pushed them to their limits.
The Battle Unfolds
The room crackled with energy as the liches hurled spells of devastation at the party. Fireballs erupted, clouds of poisonous gas filled the air, and streams of death magic surged toward the heroes. Kasari fought valiantly, attempting to deliver a decisive blow to one of the liches, while Zavania used her Grasping Vine spell to disrupt the liches’ skeletal minions. Finkelstein countered with clever tactics, but the onslaught was relentless.
The party battled with everything they had, but the liches proved overwhelming. One by one, the party was battered down, and their resolve began to falter.
Retreat and Final Stand
Realizing they were outmatched, the party made the tough decision to retreat. As they dashed for the dungeon exit, their escape was cut short when two of the liches cast devastating spells simultaneously. A Cloudkill engulfed the group as a Fireball exploded, catching them while they were still grouped together.
Finkelstein was knocked unconscious, and Zavania, always protective, rushed to save him. However, as she attempted to shield her fallen ally, one of the liches cast a fatal spell, striking Zavania down in an instant, her body crumpling under the sheer power of the magic.
Kasari’s Heroic Sacrifice
With the situation dire, Kasari recognized the only way to buy his friends a chance of survival was to sacrifice himself. In a desperate move, he offered himself to the liches, invoking his heritage as the son of Belial, the Archdevil of Hell. His connection to infernal power intrigued the liches, and as they closed in, they seized him and together sank into a swirling black vortex, leaving the material plane behind.
Kasari was dragged into a realm of pure darkness, devoid of sound, sensation, or light—a place beyond understanding. There, he remains, his fate unknown.
Finkelstein's Escape and Discovery
Left alone, Finkelstein gathered what strength he had left and used an Invisibility spell to cover his retreat. He managed to carry Zavania’s lifeless body out of the dungeon, though the weight of her loss weighed heavily on him. As he made his escape, he came across an ancient scroll, which he quickly deciphered using his Helm of Comprehending Languages. The scroll detailed a ritual to summon a massive undead army, a key piece of information that could alter the course of their fight against the Syndicate of Belial.
The Minotaur's Arrival
Emerging from the dungeon, Finkelstein encountered an imposing figure—a massive Minotaur standing eight feet tall. The Minotaur, named Razarak, revealed that he had been sent by the Abyssal Demon Lord Baphomet to aid the party in their struggles. Razarak had been tracking the party and sought them out at the right moment to provide assistance.
With Zavania dead, Kasari lost in an unknown, dark realm, and Finkelstein left to face the future with this new, fearsome ally, the party now faces significant decisions about how to proceed.
