Player Handbook

The contents of this handbook are intended for the TTRPG system Dungeons and Dragons 5e. It contains homebrew races and backgrounds unique to the world, and information on restrictions and adaptions of the material created by Wizards of the Coast. The character creation utilizes the mechanics from Ancestry & Culture: An alternative to race in 5e.

Character sheets

To keep track of your character, you will need a character sheet. Here are some resources that can be used. I have a character sheet and I'm ready to start filling it in!

The next steps

To fill in your character sheet, you will need to decide who they are. Visit Character creation for a step-by-step guide.
What is your Ancestry?
Ancestry is your characters' gene pool. Your character's ancestry helps determine how your character looks, and what traits they get from it.   In what Culture were you brought up?
Culture affects things like languages, starting equipment, and proficiencies.   What Class are you?
Class is how your character contributes to the group in the adventure. It determines what actions your character can perform. This is not the same as a profession, although they can overlap. Your character gains some special class features and proficiencies centered around it.   What is your Background?
Your background explains part of your backstory from before you became an adventurer. It could be a profession or lifestyle for example. Some backgrounds can also give you things that affect your stats on the character sheet such as extra languages, proficiencies, or wealth.   Starting equipment or Gold?
Choose among standard starting equipment for your class, or buy what you need to start the adventure.
