Not a lowly Scullery Maid (who work in the kitchen, under the Cook’s direction. Scrub benches, tables, pots and keep things clean, also may be called upon to cut up food and help with other prep work), nor yet a simple Kitchen Maid (who lit the stoves and helped with meal preparation). One could almost consider the Undercook synonymous with the title of "First Kitchen Maid", answering only to the Cook, Butler, or Housekeeper. Personality:
Betsy is a pill. She's your typical "nosy Nelly" who seems to never have time to do anything beyond basic duties work-wise, and yet always has time to listen to a conversation, chime in, give her opinion, what have you. She's good enough at what she does, and has enough work experience on her resume to avoid being dismissed- and yet... and yet, lol. She's like the coworker at Marshall's that's been there 20 years and thinks of the store as her personal domain... always too involved and yet never involved enough! Getting her to be self aware of these traits is a fruitless effort, as she has so completely convinced herself of her pure intentions, and sees nothing wrong with "interest and concern" for the family... personal boundaries have nothing to do with it!
