Reluria

The continent shaped by empire and cataclysm

"Reluria was always the very center of conflict against Chaos. It was here that the Chaos Elves rose to conquer the First Folk. It was here that they were brought low by Red Talon and the Tyrian Empire. It is here that the gods smote down mortals with the cataclysm. It is here that the last bastions of true civilization hold their ground against the Four Aspects of Chaos. The world did not start with Reluria, but the gods have seen fit to end it here."
- Antonia Sulla, Imperial Historian

Geography

Reluria lies in the northern hemisphere of Cadash. It is a large landmass with various ecosystems and biomes across it's face. Notable features are the massive mountain chain in the north that separates Denyo's Anvil from the Wilderlands. The natural harbors on the western side around the Five Shires and The Grand Duchy of Kadmos. Two great lakes, one in the middles of the Everwood and another in the middle of the Theosian Empire . The blasted wasteland that is now called The Rift, but was once the center of the Tyrian Empire before The Cataclysm. Finally the peninsula known as the Silver Horn in the south eastern portion of the continent.

Climate

The climate varies depending on the region. Extreme cold is possible in the mountains of Denyo's Anvil during winter, but snow is a rare occurrence in the rest of the continent. Extreme heat is very possible in the Wilderlands which include hardpan and craggy desert regions.

History

This continent is often considered the center of Cadash for most civilized folk. But it carries with it a history of conflict and warfare that stretches back to when Kor and Osu had to fight the dragons corrupted by Chaos.   During the first age, while there were First Folk dwelling here, they were more concentrated on the Southern continent of Ejo and out in the island chains to the west, especially the Iri Islands and Taneroa. Yet it is said the final battle between the dragons occurred in the skies over Reluria.   The second age, with Yeno's folk did begin and end in Reluria. The elven kingdoms were based in the center of the continent, in what would now be called Everwood. Soon they spread throughout Cadash, with well known settlements in what became the The Guild Islands and even in Ejo, where it is said they helped start the Jade Empire.   As we know the second age ended with the coming of the The Chaos Elves. They emerged from Reluria and worked their greatest mischief there. Eventually Ashtyr created her folk and sent her greatest hero Red Talon to end the Chaos Elves. Once again, this final battle occurred in this continent. Soon Red Talon went to pursue the source of Chaos across the The Sea of Dread and met her fate there. But as we know, that was only the first of many heroic women named Red Talon.   The Third Age brought the power of humans to the forefront. As the elven power waned, the humans created a vast and powerful Tyrian Empire. Reluria became known as the Tyrian Realm or the Imperial Continent at that time (much to the annoyance of Ashtyr's other children the halflings and dwarves, who had carved out civilizations of their own). For a time the Tyrian Empire maintained peace and order in all those who lived under it.   Then came The Cataclysm. For reasons still not clear, the capital city of Tyr and nearly all the land around it was destroyed. With that event, the gods influence vanished from Cadash, and the world was plunged into chaos and uncertainty. So began the fourth age.

Nice - I've got a soft spot for Cataclysms ^^
Did it have further consequences for the geological continent? Others than the Rift, that is.
