The Spirits
History
The nine Spirits consist of Starpelt, Aira, Suneyes, Mooneyes, Quake, Ash, River, Blizzard, and Willow. They each had a hand in creating Renta.
The Spirits used to live amoung the living, until Starpelt began to have trouble with keeping the peace amoung animals. She created the Stars, an afterlife where deceased animals who believe in the Spirits can go to, and where the Spirits would reside for the rest of time.

Worship
Animals who worship the Spirits often have mateship ceremonies. While these ceremonies vary between couple to couple, there are a couple core elements to each ceremony.
Couples create their vows together, which is usually a message conveying their love, while honoring the Spirits. At the ceremony, they whisper their vows to each other before telling the world around them. If its wolves becoming mates, they howl their vows.
After the inital ceremony ends, the couple go on a hunt together, representing their strong bond. Once their meal is caught, their guests join them at the spot they killed the prey. The animal's skull is preserved and the couple takes it home to their den as a reminder of their day.
After the dinner, close family members and friends share stories of the mated couple.
