The Red Fens
The Red Fens are a swamp adjacent to the Sea of Tears. The Red Fens are named because of the prominence of tall red reeds which grow up to eight feet high and grow thickly enough to conceal quicksand, pits and other hazards. Intermittent groves of large fern-like trees also have redish colored fronds, accented by a purple-ish moss (Lusian Moss - see Rain).
The Red Fens is a shifting maze of waterways that change as the currents and reed growth change the locations of the navigable channels on a nearly daily basis.
Inside the Red Fens are sinkholes, which are the beginings of the Upper Sargauth River.
