Bhimaksa

Lord of Violence, Father of Regret, Shining One

Bhimaksa is the most powerful spirit in the Eshtem devanic religion. He is called Lord of Violence and Father of Regret by the Eshtem, although he was worshipped as a deva in much of northern Utanar by the steppe nomads and called "Shining One". His worship was banned in Eshkar by Lord Gheran bas Arbiram shortly after he assumed leadership of the city-state. However, none could deny that Bhimaksa’s priests and other servitors had power. They were experts at destruction and fear.

His influence was thought to be cleansed from the Eshtem people after they fled during the Cataclysm Exodus, but shortly after arriving in Kalmasa and encountering the teotin of the Calmaxtec peoples, the United Temples Temples soon declared the war-like teotl Ucuriaztl a guise of Bhimaksa. This declaration was made at a time when the Eshtem were expanding aggressively through southern Kalmasa and encountering fierce resistance from the Tzetzal and a significant number of scholars, especially younger scholars of Calmaxtec origin, have made the argument that declaring Ucuriaztl to be a mahanara was no more than a propaganda ploy of the Temples in order to harden the hearts of the Eshtem against the native peoples from whom they were stealing land.
