Zhalsuth Becomes a Shaman

On his 12th birthday, Zhalsuth is declared as the new shaman of his people (Note: 12 years of age is considered adulthood for yuan-ti).

Since birth, Zhalsuth has been raised to be a powerful spellcaster. His people decided to forgo a yuan-ti's typical form of education in favor of the intensive practice of the arcane. As a result, Zhalsuth found he had the natural ability to tap into the latent power of those around him. Additionally, when he used that latent power in his magic, those whose power he was using would start to view him in higher regard. This part of his power was often disguised as the strong charisma of a born leader.
